 Background

Rhonda Pindell Charles is a multi-generational product of the Parole community of Annapolis and has been for her entire life-attending Parole Elementary, Annapolis Junior, and graduating from Annapolis Senior High School in 1972 as a scholar athlete.

Rhonda graduated from Morgan State University in 1976, majoring in Business Administration (with a minor in Economics), whereupon she received the "1976 Outstanding Achievement in Business Administration Award." She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1979.

From 1979 until 1983, Rhonda served as an Attorney with the Office of the Attorney General for the Mary land Department of Natural Resources. She retired in 2004 after 20 ½ years as an Assistant State's Attorney in Baltimore City-serving 18.5 of those years as a supervising attorney as well as a Speech Writer for the State's Attorney.

Retirement

Following her retirement in 2004, from 2004-05, Rhonda was the Program Coordinator for the Office of Minority Health for the Anne Arundel County Department of Health-supervising and ensuring that the health messages were disseminated within the African-American, the Latino, and the Asian communities. She currently is a School-Community Liaison Specialist for Anne Arundel County Public Schools and has been since January 2006. For over 30 years, Rhonda has been extremely active and involved in the Parole/Annapolis/Anne Arundel County/State of Maryland community-serving on numerous and various boards, commissions, and committees on a multitude of civic and govern mental levels.

Among others, she was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Judicial Appointments Commission for Anne Arundel County; served on the State Highway Contract Task Force for the Aris T. Allen Boulevard; served on the City of Annapolis Board of Appeals as well as several mayoral transition teams; created, initiated, and developed several successful programs within the Anne Arundel County Department of Health and Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS); founded the Parole Elementary School Alumni and Friends Association; has been a decades-long Officer/Member of the Community Health Center at Parole, Inc. and has served in various capacities at her family's home church, Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, including Church School Teacher and Treasurer.

Rhonda also is a friend of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Annapolis and has been for many years. Rhonda has been an elected public official since November 2009, serving as the representative from Ward 3 on the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee.

Family

Rhonda and her husband Marvin have been married for over 41 years. They have 2 adult children-Marvin, Jr. and Rishelle. Rhonda is the daughter of the late Gwendolyn Queen Pindell (who was a retired AACPS high school Algebra teacher) and the late France A. "Buck" Pindell (who was the co-owner of Pindell and Pindell Contractors-his building contracting business).

Platform

Rhonda's platform is 4-fold: Health and Public Safety; Balanced and Managed Growth and Development; Education and Career Development; and Civic Engagement.
