Church Circle Detour Scheduled for Large Vehicles and Delivery Trucks Due to Water Main Replacement on Wednesday, June 29, 2022

Annapolis, MD (June 27, 2022) - The Annapolis Department of Public Works and contractors will close the upper part of Main Street at Church Circle to replace a 150-year-old water main on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. The work will take place beginning at 6 a.m. and continue through mid-afternoon (a closure of approximately 6 to 8 hours). The change will not impact cars or smaller vehicles.

Large vehicles, delivery trucks, and tour buses should be alert to flaggers and police direction on Wednesday. Large vehicles will be rerouted off Main Street to Conduit to Duke of Gloucester. From there, vehicles can continue to Eastport to exit downtown, or continue along Randall Street to King George to exit downtown.

The replacement of the 150-year-old water main will improve the reliability of the water system and minimize the chance of a water main break in a crucial area.

“This planned closure will keep us from having to do this work in an emergency situation,” said City Manager David Jarrell. “While we regret the inconvenience, we know infrastructure maintenance pays off in the long run.”

For questions, contact the City’s representative, David Kerr, Barton and Loguidice, 443-342-6151.
