What is the Annapolis Youth Police Academy?: The Annapolis Youth Police Academy provides youths with an inside look at local law enforcement. The Academy, which meets for one week in June, is designed to inspire good citizenship through criminal justice education. This is a great opportunity for youths who are interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement.

1. What is the Annapolis Youth Police Academy?: The Annapolis Youth Police Academy provides youths with an inside look at local law enforcement. The Academy, which meets for one week in June, is designed to inspire good citizenship through criminal justice education. This is a great opportunity for youths who are interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement.

2. What is the curriculum?: During the Academy, students will be introduced to the services that Law Enforcement provides to our community. Some of the training topics include:
- Crime Scene Investigation
- DUI Enforcement
- Firearm Tactics
- Patrol Tactics and Reality Based Scenarios
- SWAT and K-9 Demonstrations
- Traffic Stops
- Use of Force

All Classes will be taught by Police Officers and Department Personnel in their areas of expertise.

3. When is the Youth Academy?: The Academy Class will be held June 22-26, 2015. Students will need to arrive at 8:30 a.m. (0830) each morning. Class will be dismissed at 5 p.m. (1700). There will be an awards ceremony/open house on June 29th at 6:30 p.m. (1830 hours). All parents and family are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony.

4. Is there a fee?: The charge for the one week Youth Police Academy is $200. The fee will cover lunches for the week, an academy uniform, all police related equipment needed and a field trip/fun day. The payment is due with the completed application by June 1, 2015. Please make payment by check to the Annapolis Police Explorers Post 199, Inc (memo: Youth Camp). Drop off or mail the completed registration form and check to:

5. Who can attend?: All Applicants must be between the ages of 13 (must turn 14 by the end of the calendar year) and 18 years of age, be a person of upstanding character, who currently maintains at least a 2.0 grade point average, and has had no adverse contact with this or any other Police Agency. The Basic Youth Academy will be limited to 30 qualified applicants.
