2. What are the minimum requirements to be an Election Judge?

You must be registered to vote in Maryland, and you must be able to read, write and speak the English language. You must successfully complete judges training and submit an Election Judge application

3. Can my children accompany me while voting?

Yes, 2 children under the age of 18 years old may accompany a voter while voting. Maryland law states that an individual in the care of the voter is permitted to accompany that voter in the polling place provided the individual is under 18 years old and does not disrupt or interfere with normal voting procedures.

4. Are electronics permitted in the polling places?

No. You cannot use your cell phone, pager, camera or computer equipment in an early voting center or at a polling place.

5. What if my employer wants proof I voted?

Ask an election judge for a certificate of participation.

6. When identification has been requested to vote.

To vote, you may use a copy of a current and valid photo identification including:

- Maryland driver’s license

- MVA issued ID card

- Student ID

- Employee ID

- Military ID card

- U.S. passport

- Any other State or federal government issued ID card

You may also use a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows your name and address. Current means that the document is dated within 3 months of the election.

7. How do I apply to register to vote?

You can use Maryland’s Online Voter Registration System (OLVR) or submit a voter registration application to your local board of elections or the State Board of Elections at any time. However, an application must be postmarked by the voter registration deadline in order to vote in the next scheduled election.

8. When is the last day I can register to vote?

9. Can I bring my specimen ballot into the polls with me?

Yes. You can bring any printed material, including your marked specimen ballot, to help you vote.

10. What time will the polls open?

All polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the date of the election.
