In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 125 calls for service and arrested 5 people.
Theft from Vehicle – 201900004075 – 1100-1199 Primrose Ct – 08/18 at 10:30pm to 08/19 at 8:45am: An Apple iPod Touch, charging cord and a USB adapter were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Stolen & Recovered Motor Scooters – 201900004108 – 100-199 South Southwood Av – Prior to 08/20 at 8:30pm: On 08/21 at 8:14am officers responded to a report of two motor scooters submerged in water at the end of South Cherry Grove Av. The two scooters had not been reported stolen, but officers located a Facebook post from the owner reporting that his scooters had been stolen. He reported he realized the scooters were missing on 08/20 at 8:30pm.
Theft from Vehicle – 201900004113 – 600-699 Americana Dr – 08/20 at 1pm to 08/21 at 5am: A backpack with a Dell Latitude laptop computer inside was stolen. The backpack was later recovered in the area, but the laptop was stolen out of it. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle.
Theft from Vehicle – 201900004122 – 00-99 Dumbarton Ct – 08/20 at 9pm to 08/21 at 7:55am: Money and two pairs of sunglasses were stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.
Armed Robbery – 201900004124 – 400-499 Sixth St – 08/21 at 9:16pm: Officers responded to a store for a report of an armed robbery that just occurred. The adult female clerk reported that a man entered the store confronted her and implied he had a handgun. The suspect threatened to shot the clerk if she didn’t give him money. The suspect took money and fled the area. Officers received information that a man matching the suspect’s description was in the 1100 block of Madison St. Officers responded and located Philip Hyman, 42, of Annapolis. Hyman was identified as the suspect. No handgun was located. Hyman was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, first and second degree assault and theft. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
Theft from Vehicle – 201900004127 – 1100-1199 Tyler Av – 08/21 at 5:30am to 08/22 at 5:10am: A blue duffle bag full of clothing was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

John Wesley, Mt. Zion and Eastport United Methodist Churches are holding Community Backpack Fest 2019 at Eastport United Methodist Church on Saturday, 08/24, from 10am to 12pm. The long running Annual Backpack and School Supply Giveaway in the Oxford Landing community will be held 08/28 from 3pm to 7pm.
No Citizen Fingerprinting
No citizen fingerprinting will be offered 08/26 and 09/02. Citizen fingerprinting will resume Monday, 09/09, at 6:30pm.
City Dock Movie Night
The Annapolis Police Department and City of Annapolis Arts on Public Places Commission are hosting a free movie night at Susan Campbell Park at the City Dock on Tuesday, 08/27, from 6pm to 10pm.
Pre-Labor Day Parade and City Offices Closed
There will be road closures on Sunday, 09/01, due to the Annual Pre-Labor Day Elks Parade. Road closures are scheduled between 3pm and 5pm from West St at Amos Garrett Blvd to Calvert St. The First Sunday Arts Festival is also being held on 09/01 from 11am to 5pm. West St will be closed between Calvert St and Church Circle during the event. City of Annapolis offices will be closed on Monday, 09/02, in observance of Labor Day.
