In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 111 calls for service and arrested 5 people.
Aggravated Assault – 201900000978 – 00-99 Hicks Av – 02/25 at 3:30am: The adult male victim reported he was in a pick up truck getting dropped off when a male suspect on foot struck the truck with a metal baseball bat. The victim exited the truck and the driver left the area. The suspect with the baseball bat approached the victim and struck him with it multiple times on his arms and head. The victim was able to run away and call the police. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His arm was broken in two places and he had a large laceration to his head from the attack. The victim identified the suspect as a man he knew from the neighborhood, but did not know his name. Officers were able to identify him as Jesse Smith, 49, of Annapolis. A warrant charging Smith with first degree assault was obtained and officers located Smith on 02/27. He was arrested and charged with first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, possessing a dangerous weapon with intent to injure and destruction of property. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
Theft from Vehicle – 201900001011 – 200-299 Hilltop La – 02/27 from 1am to 6am: A vehicle starter was stolen from inside an unlocked vehicle.

Harbour House and Eastport Terrace residents, Eastport neighbors, and government and community leaders are invited to attend an Eastport Working Together meeting on Tuesday, 03/19, at 6:30pm at the Rosalie Mitchell Community Center, 1014 President St. Everyone is welcome. Community service hours are available for HACA residents.

Citizen Police Academy
The purpose of the Citizen Police Academy is to educate residents about their local police department. The Academy will start Monday, April 15 and meet from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on April 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, June 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Annapolis Police Department, 199 Taylor Avenue.
