In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 117 calls for service and arrested 4 people.
Handgun Possession Arrests – 201800004075 – 00-99 Clay St - 09/25 at 9:40pm: Officers received information about a man displaying a handgun and another man displaying indicators that he might also be armed. Officers responded to the area, located the two men and discovered a loaded handgun in the waistband of the man seen displaying a handgun. The handgun was reported stolen from Washington County. The suspect, Deonta Smith, 18, of Annapolis was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen handgun, theft of the handgun, illegally carrying the handgun on his person and possession of the handgun while under 21 years of age. The second man, seen displaying indicators that he might also be armed, threw a loaded handgun into bushes as officers approached. Jontal Coates, 28, of Annapolis was charged with possession a handgun and ammunition after conviction of a qualifying crime and carrying a concealed handgun. Smith and Coates are being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
Theft of Bicycle – 201800004084 – 1900-1999 West St – 09/26 at 1:10pm: A red and black mountain bicycle was stolen from the side of a business when it was left there unsecured. The bicycle was later recovered in the 200 block of Croll Dr.
Coffee with a Cop
Join us for National Coffee with a Cop Day on Wednesday, 10/03. Officers will be at Starbucks at 122 Main St and Starbucks at 951 Bay Ridge Rd from 9am to 11am and Dunkin’ Donuts at 2004 West St from 12pm to 2pm. Drop in anytime during the two hours officers will be at the locations. The officers are there to say hi and answer questions.
Neighborhood Safety Meeting
The next Neighborhood Safety meeting will be held, Wednesday, 10/10, from 6:30pm to 8pm at Annapolis Police Headquarters, 199 Taylor Avenue. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting. Eastport Working Together
Harbour House and Eastport Terrace residents, Eastport neighbors, and government and community leaders are invited to attend an Eastport Working Together meeting on Tuesday, 10/16, at 6:30pm at the Rosalie Mitchell Community Center, 1014 President St. Everyone is welcome. Community service hours are available for HACA residents.
