In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 119 calls for service and arrested 6 people.   
 
Theft from Vehicle – 201800003923 – 00-99 Merryman Ct – 09/16 at 5pm to 09/17 at 11:10am: The passenger side window of the vehicle was forced open and money was stolen.
 
Burglary – 201800003927 – 200-299 Croll Dr – 09/17 at 1:04pm: An observant caller reported seeing two men about to break into a home in the area. Officers arrived and found the rear door to the home was forced open. Two men then ran out of the home and ran from officers. One suspect, Tayio Strong, 38, of Annapolis, was caught after a brief foot chase. The other suspect, Reginald King, 27, of Annapolis, was located in a vehicle trying to leave the area. Strong and King were arrested and charged with first, third and fourth degree burglary and destruction of property. Both are being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
 
Thefts from Vehicle – 201800003933 and 3938 – 1100-1199 Cove Rd – 07/17 to 09/17: The vehicle owner reports that some time during the past week an iPhone charger, money, and a purple Nikon camera were stolen from the unlocked vehicle. She also reported a black North Face rain coat was stolen from her unlocked vehicle about a month or two ago.


 
Eastport Working Together
Harbour House and Eastport Terrace residents, Eastport neighbors, and government and community leaders are invited to attend an Eastport Working Together meeting on Tuesday, 09/18, at 6:30pm at the Rosalie Mitchell Community Center, 1014 President St. Everyone is welcome. Community service hours are available for HACA residents.


 
Cookies with a Cop
Join us for Cookies with a Cop, Tuesday, 09/18, at 10:30am at the Annapolis Library at Monarch Academy located at 2000 Capital Dr. Bring your children to meet an Annapolis officer. Learn about their job, listen to stories, make crafts and munch on a cookie.


 
Coffee with a Cop
Join us for the next Coffee with a Cop, Wednesday, 09/26, from 12pm to 1pm at the Annapolis Library at Monarch Academy located at 2000 Capital Dr. Drop in anytime during the two hours officers will be at the library. The officers are there to say hi and answer questions.


 
Citizen Police Academy – DATE CHANGE
The purpose of the Citizen Police Academy is to educate residents about their local police department. The Academy will start Wednesday, September 26 and meet from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on September 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24, November 7, 14, 28 and December 5 at Annapolis Police Department, 199 Taylor Avenue. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
