In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 100 calls for service and arrested 11 people.

Handgun Possession Arrest – 201800003856 – 00-99 Market Space – 09/13 at 3:02pm: An officer responded to a restaurant on Church Circle for a man who ate there and left without paying. The man, Lewis Heany, 47, of Annapolis, was located on Market Space and when he was arrested for the theft was found to have a handgun in one of the bags he was carrying. Heany was charged with theft and illegally carrying a handgun. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.

Burglary – 201800003865 – 00-99 Edgewood Green Ct – 09/13 from 4:40am to 6:20pm: A home was entered through an unlocked window and money, jewelry, two pocket watches, two Apple iPads, an Xbox One game console and a Dell laptop computer were stolen.

Coffee with a Cop
Join us for the next Coffee with a Cop, Wednesday, September 26 from 12pm to 1pm at the Annapolis Library at Monarch Academy located at 2000 Capital Dr. Drop in anytime during the two hours officers will be at the library. The officers will be at both locations to say hi and answer questions.

Citizen Police Academy – DATE CHANGE
The purpose of the Citizen Police Academy is to educate residents about their local police department. The Academy will start Wednesday, September 26 and meet from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on September 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24, November 7, 14, 28 and December 5 at Annapolis Police Department, 199 Taylor Avenue. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland

Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program: The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft. A small sticker will be placed on your rear window. This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.
