In the last 24 hours Annapolis police officers responded to 106 calls for service and arrested 8 people.
Attempted Theft from Vehicle – 201800002562 – 600-699 Bywater Rd – 06/27 at 10:15pm to 06/28 at 6:50am: A vehicle was entered, but nothing was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle.
Theft from Vehicle – 201800002563 – 600-699 Annapolis Walk Dr – 06/27 at 5:30pm to 06/28 at 7am: Money and a black backpack were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Anne Arundel County Active Shooter Incident – 201800002572 - 800-899 Bestgate Rd – 06/28 at 2:41pm: Annapolis officers responded to the active shooter incident on Bestgate Rd to assist Anne Arundel County Police Department. As some of the first officers to arrive Annapolis officers worked together with Anne Arundel County police officers and deputies to take the suspected shooter into custody. Annapolis is a small town and the five employees of the Capital Gazette who were killed were connected to us by professional, personal and family ties.
Fourth of July
City offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday. A parade will begin at 6:30pm on Amos Garrett Blvd and proceed down West St to Church Circle and then down Main St to the City Dock. There is no parking allowed along the parade route. Fireworks over the Annapolis harbor will begin at 9:15pm. Main St and the Spa Creek/Eastport Bridge will be closed to traffic beginning at 6pm and remain closed until after the fireworks conclude and the crowds have subsided, after 10pm.
