Shots Fired – 201800001842 – 1400 block of Tyler Av – 05/16 at 2:15pm: A caller reported hearing shots fired and someone screaming. Officers checked the area, but did not locate any victim or property damaged. Burglary – 201800001844 – 900 block of Monroe St – 05/16 from 11:30am to 3:30pm: A window to the home was forced open and two televisions, three laptop computers, and a Citizen watch were stolen. Attempted Burglary – 201800001850 – 1000 block of Hoover St – 05/16 from 8am to 7pm: A door to the home was forced open, but it appears the home was not entered. Nothing was stolen from the home. Theft from Vehicle – 201800001851 – Unit block of Sherwood Rd – 05/08 at 12pm to 05/09 at 7am: A backpack was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The backpack was located on Forbes St and returned to the owner. Tobacco Sales Compliance Checks On 05/08 Detectives from the Annapolis Police Department conducted inspections of businesses that sell tobacco products. 34 businesses were checked and 5 establishments were found to be in violation by selling cigarettes to minors under the age of 18. Kids to Parks Day Annapolis Recreation and Parks is taking part in the 8th annual National Park Trust Kids to Parks Day on May 19 from 9am to 5pm at various locations in Truxtun Park. This is a free event. Annapolis police officers will be assisting with several activities throughout the day including fishing and bike safety. Run for the Dogs in Blue 5K Run and Walk Chesapeake K-9 Fund is holding its second annual 5K run and walk to support local law enforcement K-9 units, including the one here at the Annapolis Police Department. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of MarylandMetro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. Watch Your Car Program: The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft. A small sticker will be placed on your rear window. This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.
