No Shave November
Annapolis officers are retiring their razors and putting on polish during the month of November to support those touched by cancer. Chief Scott Baker has authorized officers and employees to let their hair grow or paint their fingernails blue in a way not normally permitted by our regulations. Participants donated at least $30 to the Rev. Callie Johnson Matthews Scholarship Fund, an Annapolis based charity. Employees not growing beards and the public are also encouraged to donate money to this important cause. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so directly to the Rev. Callie Johnson Matthews Scholarship Fund through this link http://www.revcalliecares.org/.
Como Ayudo a Mi Hijo/How Do I Help My Child
On Tuesday, 12/05, at 6pm at Annapolis Middle School the Annapolis Police Department and Anne Arundel County Public Schools are sponsoring a meeting for the Latino Community. The meeting is designed to strengthen family relations and increase school involvement. During the presentation we will be encouraging families to involve their children in activities outside of the school. We are requesting community partners to attend and set up information tables. If you provide services in the community and would like a table please contact our Latino Liaison, Joe Hudson, at 410-858-0759 or jehudson@annapolis.gov.
Neighborhood Safety Meeting
The next Neighborhood Safety meeting will be held, Wednesday, 12/13, from 6:30pm to 8pm at Annapolis Police Headquarters, 199 Taylor Avenue. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting. The topic for this meeting is an overview of the training our officers receive during the police academy and yearly in service training. We are seeking the public’s input on training. If you cannot attend you can view the meeting on our Facebook Page, live or at your convenience. If you would like to suggest training our officers should receive please email us at police@annapolis.gov. As always, we will also be going over the current crime trends in Annapolis. Food will be served so please RSVP to Corporal Amy Miguez at 410-268-9000 ext. 7261 or amiguez@annapolis.gov.
