In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 318 calls for service and arrested 20 people.
Robbery – 201700003909 – 900 block of Bay Ridge Rd – 09/15 at 3:45pm: An adult female employee attempted to stop an adult female shoplifter and tried to grab the bag containing the stolen items. The suspect turned around and struck the employee in the neck, fleeing the area on foot with the stolen items.
Theft from Vehicle – 201700003922 – Unit block of Northwest St – 09/15 at 8:40pm to 09/16 at 9:45am: The window to the vehicle was shattered and money was stolen from the vehicle.
Assault – 201700003938 – 700 block of Tyler Av – 09/17 at 2pm: Personnel from the Annapolis Fire Department were going door-to-door distributing information about smoke alarms when they saw an adult male in the backyard of one of the homes holding a handgun. The firefighters asked if the gun was real and the man began walking towards them waving the gun at them. The man then dropped the magazine from the gun and appeared to begin loading it. The firefighters, fearing they would be shot, fled the area and called the police. Officers responded and identified the suspect as Oscar Chavez, 19, of Annapolis. A search warrant for the home was obtained and a silver and black BB gun was found inside. Chavez was arrested and charged with first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment. Chavez was released by the District Court Commissioner.
Coffee with a Cop
Join us for the next Coffee with a Cop, Tuesday, October 4 from 2pm to 4pm at Starbucks located at 124 Dock Street. Drop in anytime during the two hours officers will be at Starbucks. The officers are there to say hi and answer questions.
Neighborhood Safety Meeting
The next Neighborhood Safety meeting will be held, Wednesday, October 11 from 6:30pm to 8pm at Annapolis Police Headquarters, 199 Taylor Avenue. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting. Howlin’ Hustle 5K
Join us at the 2017 Howlin’ Hustle, a 5K Walk/Run, presented by the Annapolis Police Department in support of Special Olympics Maryland. It is a 5K course around beautiful Annapolis on October 28th and is guaranteed to be a spooktackular good time. Registration will open at 6:30am and the 5K will begin at 7:30am.
