In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 82 calls for service and arrested 1 person.
Theft of Packages – 201700003578 – 200 block of Gross Av – 08/12 at 1pm to 08/14 at 6pm: Two packages were stolen from the front porch of the home after they were delivered.
Homicide – 201700003587 – 1800 block of Bowman Dr – 08/23 at 10:25pm: Officers responded for a report of a man down and bleeding outside a home. They located Andrew Williams, 24, of Annapolis suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. Mr. Williams was transported to an area hospital for treatment and died from his injuries. Detectives are investigating this incident as a homicide. This is an active and fluid investigation. Attempted Theft From Vehicle – 201700003589 – Unit block of Locust Av – 08/24 at 4:40am: An observant resident reported seeing a 15 to 19 year old male trying the door handle to a vehicle parked in the area. The resident yelled at the male who then fled the area on foot. Officers searched the area but did not locate him.
Cover the Cruiser Event
The First Annual Cover the Cruiser event at the Chick-fil-A on Somerville Road raised $2,005 for Special Olympics Maryland through your generosity. The community building that occurred between citizens, athletes, officers, and employees was priceless.
DUI Checkpoint
The Annapolis Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint on Wednesday, 08/23, from 9pm to 11pm on Bay Ridge Av and Monroe St. During that time 340 vehicles went through the checkpoint. No arrests were made. The checkpoint ended early due to the homicide on Bowman Drive.
Road Closures and Delays - Annapolis 10 Mile Race
Prepare for road closures and delays in Annapolis on Sunday, August 27, between 6:45am and 9:30am. The Annapolis 10 Mile Race will start at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and roads will be closed on a rolling basis in that area, downtown Annapolis, and surrounding the Naval Academy Bridge.
