In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 118 calls for service and arrested 10 people. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 201700002153 – West St near Westgate Circle – 06/01 at 3:50pm:  An Annapolis Police Department detective saw the 2011 Kia Sorento stolen from the 1100 block of Short St on 05/29 operating on West St near the Westgate Circle.  Officers located in the vehicle in a parking lot in the 1000 block of West St.  After a brief foot chase the operator was identified as Daven Lewis, 26, of Annapolis.  Lewis was arrested and charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and unauthorized removal of property as well as traffic charges related to driving while suspended.  The passenger in the vehicle, Jason Edmonds, 28, of Davidsonville was also arrested and charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and unauthorized removal of property.  The vehicle was stolen after it was left unlocked with the keys inside.
 
Theft from Vehicle – 201700002212 – 1300 block of Van Buren St – 05/31 at 7pm to 06/01 at 7:30am:  Money and sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
 
Theft from Vehicle – 201700002213 – 200 block of Boxwood Rd – 05/01 to 06/01:  A parking pass was stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.
 
Theft of Bicycle – 201700002221 – 100 block of Porter Dr – 06/01 from 5:15pm to 7pm:  A blue and black Schwinn boy’s bicycle with an Oriole’s baseball sticker on the top frame and a green camouflage bicycle helmet with a green mohawk on top were stolen.  The bicycle was left at a bike rack without a lock.
 
Recovered Stolen Bicycle – 201700002222 – 100 block of Gorman St – 06/01 at 8:12pm:  Officers observed a male juvenile steal an unsecured bicycle from the rear of a business. Officers located the juvenile riding the stolen bicycle in the 100 block of Clay St. After a brief foot chase officers arrested the 17 year old male from Annapolis.  He was charged with the theft on a juvenile citation and released to a guardian.  The bicycle was returned to its owner.


 
Street Closures - ZOOMA Races
A number of streets in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will be closed during the morning of Saturday, 06/03, for the ZOOMA half marathon, 10K, and 5K.  The events begin at 7am and all streets in downtown Annapolis will be open by 7:50am.  A rolling closing and opening of streets in the city will begin at 7am with police directing traffic as first and last runners enter and exit the streets.  For a list of times and roads closed visit http://bit.ly/2qAHpN3.


 
No Citizen Fingerprinting
There is no citizen fingerprinting offered on Monday, 06/05, and Monday, 06/12.  Citizen fingerprinting will resume Monday, 06/19, at 6:30pm.


 
APD 150th Anniversary Open House
On Saturday, June 17th from 12pm to 3pm the Annapolis Police Department will host an Open House at 199 Taylor Avenue.  Come meet the police officers serving your community, watch a K-9 demonstration, learn more about your local Police Department and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun. There will be children’s activities as well as giveaways and food!  We will have a presentation of our 150th Anniversary plaque as well as the announcing the two winners of our new APD Scholarship.

Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department.  When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department.  No identifying information is ever forwarded to us.  Please be assured that only your tip is communicated from Metro Crime Stoppers to the police department, not any identifying information about you.  Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations.  If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers.  If you have crime or suspect information, please call, email, or use the P3 Tips smartphone app to submit your "tip".  The Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline is available 24-hours a day Toll FREE 1-866-7LOCKUP.  You can also submit tips by visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or make tips through the Apple and Android smartphone app, P3 Tips.

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
