23-2034- Non contact shooting -1900 block of Copeland St

On 1/23/2023 at approximately 10:58pm, officers heard what they believed to be several gunshots coming from the Copeland Street area. While responding to the area officers made contact with the two victims at the intersection of Bywater Road and Belle Drive. The victims advised that they were parked on Copeland Street sitting in a vehicle when they were approached by approximately 5 unknown male subjects. The victims stated he then noticed the suspects across the street were pointing a green beam into his vehicle along with a flashlight. At that point the victim driving the vehicle began to drive away. As he was driving away he stated he then heard several gunshots. No injuries were reported and the suspects were not located. Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. Watch Your Car Program: The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft. A small sticker will be placed on your rear window. This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.
