Public Water Access Plan meeting tonight! Community input wanted! Join City of Annapolis staff for the presentation of the Robert H. Eades Park on College Creek as well as get information on the City's Public Water Access Plan. - Wednesday, December 14, 6 to 8 pm at the First Baptist Church located at 31 W. Washington Street.
This community meeting is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served. Toddler drop-in classes at PMRC holiday break – The last class before the holidays is tomorrow (Thu Dec 15); classes resume on Tue Jan 10. Registration deadline for the Zastro Simms Youth Basketball League (ZSYBL) extended – you can still register through next Friday, December 23 (the league now begins the week of January 4.) Details below in the Stanton Community Center section. Upcoming holiday hours for ARPD facilities:
- Saturday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) – PMRC and Stanton both close at 1 pm
- Sunday, December 25 (Christmas Day) – PMRC and Stanton both are closed
- Saturday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve) – PMRC and Stanton both close at 1 pm

The Annapolis United pilot program has served hundreds of area youth since summertime! Officially starting this past July, the Mayor’s initiative on recreation programming to reduce crime and juvenile delinquency in the City of Annapolis has already touched the lives of more than 500 kids since it started. Area youth have taken field trips to Assateague Island on the Eastern Shore, went to The Preserve at Eisenhower to learn the lifelong sport of golf and spent hours on the Severn River learning about water quality and its impact on oyster growth in the Chesapeake Bay. Drop-In Rate R $10 / NR $12 Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30-10:15 am Tiny Tumblers Age 3-4 Tiny Tumblers is a great introduction class to gymnastics and tumbling. This class develops fine and gross motor skills, body awareness and a positive and fun movement experience. Instructor: Leandra Parkinson. Held on PMRC Court 1. Session ends Dec 15. Scholarship Program for all City Residents (youth and adults) The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online.

Starting in 2023, Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) will host GED and ABS classes at PRMC for FREE – orientation sessions in January, classes start in February !- Classes begin Wednesday, February 1 and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- Before registering for classes, participants must attend an orientation January 10 or 20 at PMRC.
- Additionally, registrants must complete the AACC's High School Diploma Programs In-Person Assessment.

Hours at Stanton – The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm. However, there may be pre-scheduled events held during after-hours in which the facility is open. Masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the Stanton Community Center. However, they are still strongly encouraged.
DAFINA “Young Ladies Destined for Greatness” Age 11-15 DAFINA is Swahili for valuable or precious. DAFINA seeks to enrich young ladies holistically, by focusing on their mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to help young women realize their potential, by teaching them decision making skills, health education, relationship building, study skills, test taking skills, personal appearance, etiquette, the importance of education and various other topics that pertain to their development and overall well being. This is accomplished through workshops, enrichment activities and field trips. Tuesdays, 5-6:30 pm Friday Night Out Age 5-17 Fun, friends, field trips – these are Friday nights that the kids look forward to! A Friday Night Out trip may be educational, amusement, athletics/sports, cultural and/or social. This program exposes children to various experiences that they may otherwise not experience. Positive social skills, such as interpersonal and communication skills, are emphasized. Permission slips required; some extra fees apply. Program is led by Lassie Belt and Paulette Carroll. Fridays, 6-8 pm Girl Scouts of Central Maryland The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland want every interested girl to participate in and benefit from Girl Scouts – activities designed to empower girls! Girls who are similar in age meet at the Stanton Community Center to work on badges, plan activities, develop community service projects and have fun with each other. Enroll your future leader now! Teen Development Skills – woodworking, cooking and art! Age 13-15 Program is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm. Students learn about the safe use of hand tools and woodworking machinery. Participants expand their knowledge and experience by educational lessons, learning woodworking vocabulary and creating various types of projects.
- Art Painting, drawing, crafting and more! Use your imagination to create unique artwork among friends.
- Cooking Learn how to plan and prepare small, healthy meals. Plus, how to bake sweet treats such as cookies and cupcakes!
Zastro Simms Youth Basketball League (ZSYBL) – the premier youth league in the Annapolis metro area! Registration is now open through Friday, December 23! League begins the week of January 4. Day Time Age Wed 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 pm 10-12 Thu 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 pm 13-15 Sat 8:30 am 9 & Under Clinic Team registration fee $200. To register, email Chris Beck at cmbeck@annapolis.gov. Youth Open Gym Drop-in program gives elementary and middle school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball, table top games and enjoy arts and crafts.Mon-Thu, 5-6:30 pm Adult Open GymDrop-in program is designed to provide adults and high school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball in their leisure time. Attendees must sign in.Mon-Thu, 6:30-8 pm and Sat/Sun, 1-5 pm Computer Lab City residents can access free of charge. Volunteers are needed in the computer lab.
