It will be in the Capital Gazette newspaper this Sunday, December 11. *New* Turn Up Dance Fitness™ class – Mondays at 8 am and Thursdays at 6 pm led by Mackenzie Byrd. Details below in the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center section. Registration deadline for the Zastro Simms Youth Basketball League (ZSYBL) extended – you can still register through Friday, December 23 (the league now begins the week of January 4.) Details below in the Stanton Community Center section. Starting in 2023, Anne Arundel Community College will host GED and ABS classes at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center (PMRC) for FREE! Scholarship Program for all City Residents (youth and adults) The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online.

Not sure about a membership? Why not try out a class before you commit! Non-members can attend any fitness class by paying $15 or $19 for each class – the cost just depends on your residency (City of Annapolis vs. Non-City Resident.) Parents accompany and assist their child through activities focusing on basic motor skills such as crawling, walking, jumping, grip strength and balance. Parent participation is required in every class. This class is offered as a drop-in (waiver required.) Instructor: Leandra Parkinson. Held on PMRC Court 1 Drop-In Rate R $10 / NR $12 Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30-10:15 am Tiny Tumblers is a great introduction class to gymnastics and tumbling. This class develops fine and gross motor skills, body awareness and a positive and fun movement experience. Instructor: Leandra Parkinson. Held on PMRC Court 1. Session ends Dec 15. Drop-In Rate R $10 / NR $12 Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:30-11:15 am Rock Climbing Wall, Ballocity™ and Kidz Zone – Please go to the Rock Climbing Wall page, Ballocity™ indoor playspace page and the Kidz Zone Babysitting page for specific days and hours that the areas are open each week. PMRC is open daily from 6 am to 8 pm. Please note that you must: - bring your own exercise mat (fitness classes, cardio room, weight room, track)

Starting in 2023, Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) will host GED and ABS classes at PRMC for FREE – orientation sessions in January, classes start in February !- Classes begin Wednesday, February 1 and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- Before registering for classes, participants must attend an orientation January 10 or 20 at PMRC.
- Additionally, registrants must complete the AACC's High School Diploma Programs In-Person Assessment.

Hours at Stanton – The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm. However, there may be pre-scheduled events held during after-hours in which the facility is open. Masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the Stanton Community Center. However, they are still strongly encouraged.
DAFINA “Young Ladies Destined for Greatness” Age 11-15 DAFINA is Swahili for valuable or precious. DAFINA seeks to enrich young ladies holistically, by focusing on their mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to help young women realize their potential, by teaching them decision making skills, health education, relationship building, study skills, test taking skills, personal appearance, etiquette, the importance of education and various other topics that pertain to their development and overall well being. This is accomplished through workshops, enrichment activities and field trips. Tuesdays, 5-6:30 pm Friday Night Out Age 5-17 Fun, friends, field trips – these are Friday nights that the kids look forward to! A Friday Night Out trip may be educational, amusement, athletics/sports, cultural and/or social. This program exposes children to various experiences that they may otherwise not experience. Positive social skills, such as interpersonal and communication skills, are emphasized. Permission slips required; some extra fees apply. Program is led by Lassie Belt and Paulette Carroll. Fridays, 6-8 pm Girl Scouts of Central Maryland The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland want every interested girl to participate in and benefit from Girl Scouts – activities designed to empower girls! Girls who are similar in age meet at the Stanton Community Center to work on badges, plan activities, develop community service projects and have fun with each other. Enroll your future leader now! Teen Development Skills – woodworking, cooking and art! Age 13-15 Program is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm. Students learn about the safe use of hand tools and woodworking machinery. Participants expand their knowledge and experience by educational lessons, learning woodworking vocabulary and creating various types of projects.
- Art Painting, drawing, crafting and more! Use your imagination to create unique artwork among friends.
- Cooking Learn how to plan and prepare small, healthy meals. Plus, how to bake sweet treats such as cookies and cupcakes!
Zastro Simms Youth Basketball League (ZSYBL) – the premier youth league in the Annapolis metro area! Registration is now open through Friday, December 23! League begins the week of January 4. Youth Open Gym Drop-in program gives elementary and middle school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball, table top games and enjoy arts and crafts.Mon-Thu, 5-6:30 pm Adult Open GymDrop-in program is designed to provide adults and high school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball in their leisure time. Record $33 Million Bay Program Grants To Restore Waterways article by Chesapeake Bay Magazine on December 6, 2022. "… The power of partnership was on display during the formal announcement of the funds at Annapolis’s Truxtun Park on Friday. One of those lucky recipients is Hawkins Cove, nearby. Around $500,000 of federal funding will go toward restoring the degraded cove on Spa Creek, as well as turn adjacent land into a city park." ARPD is grateful for an allotment of this grant to cover repairs of Truxtun Park that is needed to improve the park and accessibility for the public!
