Annapolis Youth Basketball League Grades 3-8 The 2023 winter basketball season is coming up… register for youth leagues to be part of this very popular Annapolis Recreation and Parks program! The registration deadline is Friday, December 9, practices start December 16, league games start January 7. All details are include on page 5 of the Fall 2022 Program Guide. Haunted Hilltop – this Sunday, October 23, 4-7 pm Join Rodney Barnes, the City of Annapolis, Annapolis Recreation and Parks, Art in Public Places Commission, Small City Big Dreams and Working Together Changing Lives for Haunted Hilltop with food, games, giveaways, music, dance and costume competition and Selfie Museum. Maryland Safe Boating Course – four courses held in November and December! A great parent-child opportunity to learn the “rules of the road” on the water together! Prepare for next spring by taking this course that covers legal requirements, navigation rules, preparation and trailers, accidents, weather and water conditions, water sports, sailing and personal watercraft safety. The Maryland Safe Boating Course is an eight-hour course and test that satisfies Maryland law for local people to operate any motorized boat in Maryland waters. This class is held for one day from 8 am to 5 pm at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center. Participants need to bring food and drinks for the 30-minute lunch break. Cost is $25 per participant. You must be pre-registered to attend. This course is for age 12+ but those ages 12-15 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Instructor: Gerry Young. Tiny Tumblers Age 3-4 Tiny Tumblers is a great introduction class to gymnastics and tumbling. Scholarship Program for all City Residents (youth and adults) The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online.

Civil Air Patrol Cadets Age 12-17 and Seniors Age 18+The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force with 56,000 members devoting time and expertise in nearly 1,500 communities. CAP advocates for aviation and related fields through aerospace/STEM education and formulating future leaders in the Cadet program. CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization that carries out emergency service missions when needed - in the air and on the ground. The Col. Mary S.  Teen Development Skills -- Woodworking Class!

Hours at Stanton – The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm. However, there may be pre-scheduled events held during after-hours in which the facility is open. Masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the Stanton Community Center. However, they are still strongly encouraged.
DAFINA “Young Ladies Destined for Greatness” Age 11-15 DAFINA is Swahili for valuable or precious. DAFINA seeks to enrich young ladies holistically, by focusing on their mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to help young women realize their potential, by teaching them decision making skills, health education, relationship building, study skills, test taking skills, personal appearance, etiquette, the importance of education and various other topics that pertain to their development and overall well being. This is accomplished through workshops, enrichment activities and field trips. Tuesdays, 5-6:30 pm Friday Night Out Age 5-17 Fun, friends, field trips – these are Friday nights that the kids look forward to! A Friday Night Out trip may be educational, amusement, athletics/sports, cultural and/or social. This program exposes children to various experiences that they may otherwise not experience. Positive social skills, such as interpersonal and communication skills, are emphasized. Permission slips required; some extra fees apply. Program is led by Lassie Belt and Paulette Carroll. Fridays, 6-8 pm Girl Scouts of Central Maryland The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland want every interested girl to participate in and benefit from Girl Scouts – activities designed to empower girls! Girls who are similar in age meet at the Stanton Community Center to work on badges, plan activities, develop community service projects and have fun with each other. Enroll your future leader now! Students learn about the safe use of hand tools and woodworking machinery. Participants expand their knowledge and experience by educational lessons, learning woodworking vocabulary and creating various types of projects.

- Cooking Learn how to plan and prepare small, healthy meals. Plus, how to bake sweet treats such as cookies and cupcakes!

Youth Open Gym Drop-in program gives elementary and middle school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball, table top games and enjoy arts and crafts.Mon-Thu, 5-6:30 pm Adult Open GymDrop-in program is designed to provide adults and high school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball in their leisure time. English ivy is killing the trees and threatening the very life of the forest. Gather to cut and pull ivy to help save this beautiful park. Bring gloves, loppers, small handsaws, water and plenty of bug spray. Wear long pants -- be prepared to work hard and have fun! Meet at the Dunn Municipal Pool (251 Pump House Road) at the far end of the parking lot (left of the building) and head down to the trails. The Harbormaster’s Office provides hourly and overnight docking and is responsible for: • Boating enforcement on City waterways • Pump out boat service • Removal of debris and derelict vessels in City waters The City fills to capacity most every weekend so boaters should strongly consider reservations for overnight docking. Reservations are accepted online at www.annapolis.gov/harbormaster. Hourly docking is available on a limited basis so please contact us when you’re close to see if there is availability. Hail us on VHF Channel 17 or call us at 410.263.7973. If you know of any violations in City waterways or want information about docking and mooring, please email harbormaster@annapolis.gov.
