An armed robbery, which was reported to us on May 27, was never listed in our daily police report releases. This was an oversight on our part. No one inside or outside the police department requested that information about this crime not be released to the public. In reviewing this mistake another crime that was reported the same day was also never listed in our daily police report. These are the descriptions of both crimes:
22-11122 - Armed Robbery - 800 block of Chesapeake Ave. On 05/27/22 at approximately 2:41am, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers met with the adult female victim who reported that she was robbed at gunpoint while walking along Chesapeake Ave. After several credit cards from the victim, the suspect entered a vehicle and fled the area. CID responded and took over the investigation. Through investigation De'Lass Reid, 25, of Annapolis was identified as the suspect in this robbery. On 06/13 Reid was charged with armed robbery and 13 other related offenses. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on a $300,000 bond.
22-11125 - Burglary - Unit block of Jefferson Pl. On 05/27/22 at approximately 3:52am, officers responded to the unit block of Jefferson Place for the report of a burglary. The victim reported that a suspect known to him broke into the home while he was sleeping and stole a cell phone, sunglasses, and various other items totaling $500.00.
We apologize for the mistake which led to these crimes not being included on our daily report. We are pleased to announce that within the next month we will be launching a new crime map on our website www.annapolis.gov/police. Our old crime map became obsolete when we switched our internal records management system. We have been working on linking our new system to an interactive map for the public to use. Please stay tuned to our daily police reports for information on the launch.
Telephone Reporting We are continuing the policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. Please call our non-emergency phone number at 410-268-4141 to make a report. Citizen fingerprinting is canceled until further notice.
