Kids Day In  (PreK-5th grade) – next Monday, May 2!
School is out and it is time to play! Join us when school’s closed for a fun-filled day of supervised activities. Games, crafts, sports and more! Led by our licensed childcare staff. Must be pre-registered to attend. Bring a bag lunch and drink. For ages 4-12. Held in the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center Aux Gym.

Trash to Treasures Rummage Sale is  next Saturday, May 7! Time for spring cleaning!
This community-wide outdoor yard sale is a great way to rid your home of unnecessary clutter! One table and two chairs can be provided OR bring your own table and chairs. Pre-registration is required. The rummage sale is held in the parking lot of the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center.
Saturday, May 7 (rain date Saturday, May 14)
8 am – noon

Rhythm & Hip-Hop  Age 5-12 – still room to sign up!
Jazz & hip-hop moves will keep you on your toes! Students learn to dance in a group setting and develop different combinations. This class is a great learning environment to acquire rhythm and beat. Participants will be able to take their dance moves and develop their own personal style! Held in PMRC Studio B for 8 weeks. R $119 / NR $140
Held on Wednesdays (started April 20 but you can still sign up):

Parent & Tot Gymnastics Age 12-36 months with parents
Parents accompany and assist their young children through activities focusing on basic motor skills such as crawling, walking, jumping, grip strength and balance. Parent participation is required during every class. For the daily drop-in rate, a waiver is required. Instructor: Leandra Parkinson, held in the PMRC Aux Gym.

Maryland Safe Boating Course Age 12+ – last class is Saturday, June 4!
A great parent-child opportunity to learn the “rules of the road” on the water together! Prepare for summer 2022 by taking this course that covers legal requirements, navigation rules, preparation and trailers, accidents, weather and water conditions, water sports, sailing and personal watercraft safety. The Maryland Safe Boating Course is an eight-hour course and test that satisfies Maryland law for local people to operate any motorized boat in Maryland waters.
This is a one day class that will be held from 8 am to 5 pm at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center. Participants need to bring food and drinks for the 30-minute lunch break.
Cost is $25 per participant. You must be pre-registered to attend. This course is for age 12+ but those ages 12-15 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Instructor: Gerry Young. For more information or to register, please contact LaKeisha Simmons at lmsimmons@annapolis.gov.

Camp Registration – General Camp Information and the Camp Forms will help you get your child registered for fun this summer!

Aquatics – we are excited to bring back swim lessons this summer – from toddlers to adults! The pool opens Saturday, May 28th!

The Penguins Swim Team is registering for swimmers now! Cost is City of Annapolis Resident $120 and Non-Resident $140. Please sign up by the deadline (Monday, June 6.) Refer to page 8 in the Spring-Summer 2022 Program Guide for details.

The REACH youth program continues with performances in 2022! Next up is ANNIE of Annapolis… from Hard Knocks to Happiness! We’re seeking actors, dancers, singers, stage crew and more! Email Ron-Shaye Clark for details at rdclark@annapolis.gov. More information about REACH can be found on page 4 of the Spring-Summer 2022 Program Guide.

Child Care registration ongoing as space allows – Childcare for the current academic year is held before and after school at Annapolis, Germantown, Hillsmere, Mills-Parole and West Annapolis elementary schools.
AM Care is $117 per month and PM Care is $222 per month.
All registration must be done in person at PMRC (sorry, online registration is not available for childcare.) There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee. For more information, please contact LaKeisha Simmons at lmsimmons@annapolis.gov.
Please keep in mind that monthly rates will change for AM and PM care as a result of AACPS adjusting the start and end times of the school day starting in the fall. Information on the 2022-2023 school year rates will be announced once we know the finalized plans of AACPS.

Scholarship Program for all City Residents (youth and adults)
The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online.

Fitness Classes – Please review the schedule for current offerings! This schedule is often changed in real time so please double check before coming to PMRC. Also, last minute cancellations are posted on social media so please follow our pages if you don’t do so already.

Rock Climbing Wall, Ballocity™ and *Kidz Zone – Please go to the Rock Climbing Wall page, Ballocity™ indoor playspace page and the Kidz Zone Babysitting page for specific days and hours that the areas are open each week. *Kidz Zone is a childcare service only for those using PMRC.

Not sure about a membership? Why not try out a class before you commit! Non-members can attend any fitness class by paying $15 or $19 for each class – the cost just depends on your residency (City of Annapolis vs. Non-City Resident.) Membership questions or concerns can be addressed to Melissa Brown at mnbrown@annapolis.gov.

PMRC is open daily from 6 am to 8 pm. Please note that you must:

Spring Youth Programs

DAFINA “Young Ladies Destined for Greatness”  Age 11-15
DAFINA is Swahili for valuable or precious. DAFINA seeks to enrich young ladies holistically, by focusing on their mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to help young women realize their potential, by teaching them decision making skills, health education, relationship building, study skills, test taking skills, personal appearance, etiquette, the importance of education and various other topics that pertain to their development and overall well being. This is accomplished through workshops, enrichment activities and field trips.
Tuesdays, 5-6:30 pm

Friday Night Out  Age 6-15
Each Friday a field trip is taken; each trip may be educational, amusement, athletics/sports, cultural, and/or social. The objective is to expose children to various experiences that they may otherwise not experience. Positive social skills, such as interpersonal skills, and communication skills are emphasized. Permission slips required. Some extra fees are required.

Get Smart Club
This volunteer-based program is in partnership with St. Anne’s Episcopal Church of Annapolis. The Get Smart Club helps to strengthen the academic skills of elementary, middle and high school students. All students receive homework assistance and school project assistance. Low-performing students receive tutoring in math and reading and they also have access to 12 online computers. The program ends with a Get Smart Club Banquet to recognize students for their in-school honor roll and perfect attendance accomplishments and for their after school Homework Club accomplishments. Additionally, the Smart Board and the IXL mathematic interactive website are used to give students practice sessions in language arts and math.

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland
Girl Scouts wants every interested girl to participate in and benefit from Girls Scouts activities designed to empower girls. Girls who are similar in age will meet at the Stanton Community Center to work on badges, plan activities, develop community service projects and have fun with each other.

Teen Skills Development  Age 13-15; Tuesdays, 6-8 pm

Art - painting, drawing and more!
Cooking - learn to bake cookies and cupcakes and prepare small, healthy meals
Woodworking - Introduces kids to the art of woodcraft! Students learn about the safe use of hand tools and woodworking machinery. Participants expand knowledge and experience through educational lessons, woodworking vocabulary and creating various projects.

Youth Open Gym
Drop-in program gives elementary and middle school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball, table top games and enjoy arts and crafts.

Mon-Thu, 5-6:30 pm

Adult Open Gym
Drop-in program is designed to provide adults and high school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball in their leisure time. Attendees must sign in.

Mon-Thu, 6:30-8 pm and Sat/Sun, 1-5 pm

Computer Lab City residents can access free of charge. Volunteers are needed in the computer lab. If you are interested, please email Chris Beck at cmbeck@annapolis.gov.

Counseling Services Call 410.626.1800. Individual, group and family counseling daily from 10 am to 6 pm. After 6 pm, by appointment only. Provides services for crisis intervention, tutoring, substance abuse and mental health assessment for youth and adults. Offered through a partnership of Arundel Lodge and the Community Action Agency.
We Care and Friends Call 410.263.2874. Offering services for homeless and others who need additional assistance, help children who are at risk, and those who have a substance abuse problem. Monday - Friday, 10 am - 2 pm.

Hours at Stanton – The facility is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. However, there may be pre-scheduled events held during after-hours in which the facility is open.

The Harbormaster’s Office provides hourly and overnight docking and is responsible for:

Boating enforcement on City waterways
Pump out boat service
Removal of debris and derelict vessels in City waters

The City fills to capacity most every weekend so boaters should strongly consider reservations for overnight docking. Reservations are accepted online at www.annapolis.gov/harbormaster. Hourly docking is available on a limited basis so please contact us when you’re close to see if there is availability. Hail us on VHF Channel 17 or call us at 410.263.7973. If you know of any violations in City waterways or want information about docking and mooring, please email harbormaster@annapolis.gov.
