5th Annual Pass, Pick & Play – distribution event is THIS Saturday!
Pass, Pick & Play is an effort that provides children from financially-challenged families in the Annapolis area with free sporting goods. Pass, Pick & Play is a community-wide effort across all youth age groups.

Spring Softball Leagues Age 18+ – registration deadline is this Friday, March 25
Organized recreational slo-pitch leagues governed by ASA Rules. Team registration ONLY. However, if you are a single player looking for a team please contact LaKeisha Simmons to get on a free agent roster. Teams are required to have matching uniforms with numbers. All teams will have one practice week, followed by 10 weeks of play. Schedules will not go beyond June 30. To register a team the deadline is Friday, March 25. Email LaKeisha Simmons at lmsimmons@annapolis.gov. 10 weeks, $700 per team. Held on Truxtun Park Ballfields.
Practice Week: week of April 4 (weather permitting).

Soccer Shots Age 2-5 – space still available in three classes!
Committed to providing a positive experience for your child, Soccer Shots uses an expert-approved curriculum to teach new character words and skills each week to young learners in a fun environment. The spring Soccer Shots program is held for 10 weeks at Collison Field in Truxtun Park. Each class is 30 minutes. The spring session started last Saturday (March 19) and runs through Saturday, May 21 (no sessions Memorial Day weekend; make-up date Saturday, June 4.) There is still space in the following three classes:

Mini Age 2-3

High-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.

9:40 am

Classic Age 3-5

Use creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation.

Maryland Safe Boating Course Age 12+ – upcoming class is next Saturday, April 2!
A great parent-child opportunity to learn the “rules of the road” on the water together! Prepare for summer 2022 by taking this course that covers legal requirements, navigation rules, preparation and trailers, accidents, weather and water conditions, water sports, sailing and personal watercraft safety. The Maryland Safe Boating Course is an eight-hour course and test that satisfies Maryland law for local people to operate any motorized boat in Maryland waters.

Annapolis Recreation and Parks is offering five course dates this spring! All classes are one-day each from 8 am to 5 pm at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center. Participants need to bring food and drinks for the 30-minute lunch break.

Cost is $25 per participant. You must be pre-registered to attend. This course is for age 12+ but those ages 12-15 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Instructor: Gerry Young.

One thousand eggs are filled with “eggcellent prizes” including golden eggs worth $50 values or more! Bring a basket and a flashlight. Meet in the "Pip" Moyer Recreation Center parking lot by Ballfield #1. Age 18+ only (sorry, no children). Bring a basket and a flashlight. Proceeds benefit the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Scholarship Fund. Rain Date is Sunday, April 10th (same time and place). Register using code #2122. Ways to register:

Parent & Tot Gymnastics Age 12-36 months with parents
Parents will accompany and assist their young children through activities focusing on basic motor skills such as crawling, walking, jumping, grip strength and balance. Parent participation is required during every class. For the daily drop-in rate, a waiver is required. Instructor: Leandra Parkinson, held in the PMRC Aux Gym.

The REACH youth program continues with performances in 2022! Next up is ANNIE of Annapolis… from Hard Knocks to Happiness! We’re seeking actors, dancers, singers, stage crew and more! Child Care registration ongoing as space allows – Child care for the current academic year is held before and after school at Annapolis, Germantown, Hillsmere, Mills-Parole and West Annapolis elementary schools.
AM Care is $117 per month and PM Care is $222 per month.
All registration must be done in person at PMRC (sorry, online registration is not available for childcare.) There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee. For more information, please contact LaKeisha Simmons at lmsimmons@annapolis.gov.
Information on the 2022-2023 school year will be announced by April. Please keep in mind that monthly rates will change for AM and PM care as a result of AACPS adjusting the start and end times of the school day starting in the fall.

Scholarship Program for all City Residents (youth and adults)
The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online.

Slow Flow, Deep Stretch Yoga will be led by Bonnie Urban tomorrow evening.

PMRC is open daily from 6 am to 8 pm. Please note that you must:

bring your own exercise mat (fitness classes, cardio room, weight room, track)
bring your own water bottle (use the refillable water station by the restrooms upstairs)
effective 2/2/22, masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center, however, they are still strongly encouraged.

Please note that there are a few treadmills out of service right now: treadmill #s 1, 2, 3 and 8 are currently not in use while we wait on the parts for repair. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Fitness Classes – Please review the schedule for current offerings! This schedule is often changed in real time so please double check before coming to PMRC. Also, last minute cancellations are posted on social media so please follow our pages if you don’t do so already.

Non-members can attend any fitness class by paying $15 or $19 for each class – the cost just depends on your residency (City of Annapolis vs. Non-City Resident.) Stanton Community Center

STEM Projects!

Hours at Stanton – The facility is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. However, there may be pre-scheduled events held during after-hours in which the facility is open.

Masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the Stanton Community Center. However, they are still strongly encouraged.

Spring Youth Programs:

DAFINA “Young Ladies Destined for Greatness” Age 11-15
DAFINA is Swahili for valuable or precious. DAFINA seeks to enrich young ladies holistically, by focusing on their mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to help young women realize their potential, by teaching them decision making skills, health education, relationship building, study skills, test taking skills, personal appearance, etiquette, the importance of education and various other topics that pertain to their development and overall well being. This is accomplished through workshops, enrichment activities and field trips.
Tuesdays, 5-6:30 pm

Friday Night Out Age 6-15
Each Friday a field trip is taken; each trip may be educational, amusement, athletics/sports, cultural, and/or social. The objective is to expose children to various experiences that they may otherwise not experience. Positive social skills, such as interpersonal skills, and communication skills are emphasized. Permission slips required. Some extra fees are required.

Get Smart Club
This volunteer-based program is in partnership with St. Anne’s Episcopal Church of Annapolis. The Get Smart Club helps to strengthen the academic skills of elementary, middle and high school students. All students receive homework assistance and school project assistance. Low-performing students receive tutoring in math and reading and they also have access to 12 online computers. The program ends with a Get Smart Club Banquet to recognize students for their in-school honor roll and perfect attendance accomplishments and for their after school Homework Club accomplishments. Additionally, the Smart Board and the IXL mathematic interactive website are used to give students practice sessions in language arts and math.

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland
Girl Scouts wants every interested girl to participate in and benefit from Girls Scouts activities designed to empower girls. Girls who are similar in age will meet at the Stanton Community Center to work on badges, plan activities, develop community service projects and have fun with each other.

Teen Skills Development Age 13-15

Art - painting, drawing and more!
Cooking - learn to bake cookies and cupcakes and prepare small, healthy meals
Woodworking - Introduces kids to the art of woodcraft! Students learn about the safe use of hand tools and woodworking machinery. Participants expand knowledge and experience through educational lessons, woodworking vocabulary and creating various projects.

Youth Open Gym
Drop-in program gives elementary and middle school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball, table top games and enjoy arts and crafts.
Mon-Thu, 5-6:30 pm

Adult Open Gym
Drop-in program is designed to provide adults and high school students an opportunity to play recreational basketball in their leisure time. Attendees must sign in.
Mon-Thu, 6:30-8 pm and Sat/Sun, 1-5 pm

Computer Lab City residents can access free of charge. Volunteers are needed in the computer lab. If you are interested, please email Chris Beck at cmbeck@annapolis.gov.

The public transient mooring balls numbers 1 through 40 (off of City Dock in Annapolis) are closed for maintenance to replace the chain and tackle. They will reopen April 1, 2022 (or after the contractor has completed the work.)

The Harbormaster’s Office provides hourly and overnight docking and is responsible for:
• Boating enforcement on City waterways
• Pump out boat service
• Removal of debris and derelict vessels in City waters

The City fills to capacity most every weekend so boaters should strongly consider reservations for overnight docking. Reservations are accepted online at www.annapolis.gov/harbormaster. Hourly docking is available on a limited basis so please contact us when you’re close to see if there is availability. Hail us on VHF Channel 17 or call us at 410.263.7973. If you know of any violations in City waterways or want information about docking and mooring, please email harbormaster@annapolis.gov.
