Learn about internships with the VA – For information please contact Reginald E. Vance, Ph.D. at Reginald.Vance@va.gov. The VA National Diversity Internship Program (NDIP) provides internship opportunities to diverse undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled, full-time or part-time, in a degree-seeking program, at an accredited post-secondary institution. Sessions are offered during the spring, summer and/or fall for students from various institutions such as but not limited to Minority Serving Institutions (i.e. Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Asian American Pacific Islanders, Tribal Colleges and Universities.

Kids Day In (PreK-5th grade) – Monday, February 21!
School is out and it is time to play! Come join us when school is closed for a fun-filled day of supervised activities. Games, crafts, sports and more! Led by our licensed childcare staff. Must be pre-registered to attend. Bring a bag lunch and drink. For ages 4-12 (Pre-K through fifth grade.) Held in the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center Aux Gym.

5th Annual Pass, Pick & Play – sports equipment donations accepted through Friday, March 11!
Pass, Pick & Play is an effort that provides children from financially-challenged families in the Annapolis area with free sporting goods. Pass, Pick & Play is a community-wide effort across all youth age groups. The sports equipment donation drive goes through Friday, March 11. To drop off gently-used sports equipment, please go to one of the following locations:
• “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center (PMRC)
• The Key School
• Calvary United Methodist Church
• Discoveries: The Library at the Mall

Fencing Age 7-13 – register for March classes now!
Come learn the art of Fencing, a growing program in the area! Learn the basics of fencing including rules, fundamentals, and footwork – which can help improve skill for other sports. Equipment is provided except for gloves. Gloves are required and can be purchased from instructor Larbi Soufianne during the first class. 8 weeks, held in PMRC Aux Gym. Classes start March 17.

Parent & Tot Gymnastics  Age 12-36 months with parents
Parents will accompany and assist their young children through activities focusing on basic motor skills such as crawling, walking, jumping, grip strength and balance. Parent participation is required during every class. For the daily drop-in rate, a waiver is required. Instructor: Leandra Parkinson, held in the PMRC Aux Gym.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt at Night – Saturday, April 9, 8-10 pm, PMRC parking lot
One thousand eggs are filled with “eggcellent prizes” including golden eggs worth $50 values or more! Bring a basket and a flashlight. Meet in the "Pip" Moyer Recreation Center parking lot by Ballfield #1. Age 18+ only (sorry, no children). Bring a basket and a flashlight. Proceeds benefit the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Scholarship Fund. Rain Date is Sunday, April 10th (same time and place). Register using code #2122. Ways to register:
  • per person ticket cost $15 = sign up in person at PMRC Front Desk by 6 pm on Saturday, April 9th
  • per person ticket cost $15 = online, IF you already have an account set up with us; register using code #2122
  • per person ticket cost $20 = on site the night of the event; you must arrive by 7 pm AND pay with cash
Scholarship Program  for all City Residents (youth and adults)
The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online.
 
The REACH youth program continues with performances in 2022! Next up ANNIE in Annapolis! We’re seeking actors, dancers, singers, stage crew and more! Email Ron-Shaye Clark for details at rdclark@annapolis.gov. More information about REACH can be found on page 8 of the Winter 2022 Program Guide.
 
Child Care  registration is ongoing as space allows – Childcare for the current academic year is held before and after school at Annapolis, Germantown, Hillsmere, Mills-Parole and West Annapolis elementary schools.
AM Care is $117 per month and PM Care is $222 per month.
All registration must be done in person at PMRC (sorry, online registration is not available for childcare.) There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee. For more information, please contact Barry Booth.

"Pip" Moyer Recreation Center (PMRC)

You can "drop-in" to a fitness class!
$15 per class for City of Annapolis Residents
$19 per class for Non-City of Annapolis Residents
PMRC is open daily from 6 am to 8 pm. Please note that you must:
  • bring your own exercise mat (fitness classes, cardio room, weight room, track)
  • bring your own water bottle (use the refillable water station by the restrooms upstairs)
  • effective 2/2/22, masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center, however, they are still strongly encouraged.
Fitness Classes – Please review the schedule for current offerings! This schedule is often changed in real time so please double check before coming to PMRC. Also, last minute cancellations are posted on social media so please follow our pages if you don’t do so already.
 
Not sure about a membership? Why not try out a class before you commit! Non-members can attend any fitness class by paying $15 or $19 for each class – the cost just depends on your residency (City of Annapolis vs. Non-City Resident.) Membership questions or concerns can be addressed to Melissa Brown at mnbrown@annapolis.gov.

Ballocity™ and *Kidz Zone
– Please go to the Ballocity™ indoor playspace page and the Kidz Zone Babysitting page for specific days and hours that the two areas are open each week. Pricing differs for the two programs.*Kidz Zone is a childcare service only for those using PMRC.

Stanton Community Center

Getting ready for spring... GreenScape will be Saturday, April 23! Do you want to volunteer to help beautify the public spaces around the Stanton Center?
Hours at Stanton – The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm and Sundays it’s closed. However, there may be pre-scheduled events held during after-hours in which the facility is open.
 
Effective 2/2/22, masks (face coverings) are not required to be worn inside of the Stanton Community Center, however, they are still strongly encouraged.

Join us for the 30th anniversary of GreenScape this year! This is a City of Annapolis and community investment beautification program to clean up and plant in public spaces. The 2022 event will take place on Saturday, April 23rd. Two planning meetings will be held at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center in Meeting Room 3. The public transient mooring balls numbers 1 through 40 (off of City Dock) are closed for maintenance to replace the chain and tackle. They will reopen April 1, 2022 (or after the contractor has completed the work.)
 

The Pumpout Boat is in service Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 am to 3 pm, weather dependent. Call 410-320-6852 or VHF 17 for service.
