Annapolis Police Department Daily Report

Assault - 2021000025970 - Forest Dr at Chinquapin Round Rd - 08/26 at 7:10am: Officers responded for a road rage incident that occurred at the corner of Forest Dr at Chinquapin Round Rd.  The adult female victim reported that the other driver involved in the incident pointed a handgun at her while dressed in a Prince George’s County police uniform.  Officers were able to identify the suspect who is a Prince George’s County police officer who was off duty at the time of the incident.  Through investigation officers obtained charges for the suspect.  James Thornley, 47, of Annapolis was arrested and charged with  assault-first and second degree, reckless endangerment and use of a firearm in a violent crime. He is being held without bond at the Prince George’s County  Correctional Center.

Theft - 2021000028399 - 100-199 block of Hillsmere Drive - 09/23 at 7:45pm: An unknown subject stole merchandise from the business. 

Theft - 2021000028434 - 2200-2300 block of Bay Ridge Ave - 09/24 at 12am: An unknown subject stole drinks from a cooler at the business.  

Assault - 2021000028443 - 0-99 block of Pleasant St - 09/24 at 2:30am: A female subject was assaulted by a subject known to her.  The suspect was gone prior to officers arrival.
 
Theft - 2021000028388 - 1300-1399 block of Forest Dr - 09/23 at 3:45pm:  A subject stole crab meat from the business.  The subject fled on foot prior to officers arriving.  Investigation revealed the identity of the subject.  Charges are pending.  
 


The Annapolis Police Department will not be offering citizen fingerprinting in September. We are continuing the policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes.  Please call our non-emergency phone number at 410-268-4141 to make a report.


Administrative Hearing Board – Public Viewing
The Annapolis Police Department will be conducting an Administrative Hearing Board at the request of a police officer who disputes the outcome of an Internal Affairs Investigation. In accordance with Annotated Code of Maryland, Public Safety Article, Section 3-107 (e)(1)(ii), “the hearing shall be open to the public, unless the Chief finds a hearing must be closed for good cause, including to protect a confidential informant, an undercover officer, or a child witness.” The live feed of the hearing board will be held at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center at 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, MD 21403 at  8:00 a.m. on October 1, 2021. All COVID-19 protocols will be observed.  Individuals attending an Administrative Hearing Board must act in a respectful manner. Audio and video recordings are not permitted during an Administrative Hearing Board. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
