Front Line Workers - Join our 4th of July Parade
The City of Annapolis will host a "Welcome Back to Annapolis" style celebration over the Fourth of July weekend, with a parade on Saturday, July 3 beginning at 10:30 am. The parade will honor front line workers who have worked so hard to support our community during the COVID-19 crisis. If you are a front line worker interested in walking in the parade, please fill out a Parade Entry Form and contact Brian Cahalan in the Mayor's Office at bcahalan@annapolis.gov or 410-263-7997.
Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Virtual Hiring Event
Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (VAAAC) and Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) are teaming up to host a Thursday, June 10 virtual hiring event to help hospitality industry employers connect with qualified workers as they gear up for increased business following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. Job seekers can also view the new VAAAC Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality job board.
BGE Energizing Small Business Grants Program
Through the BGE Energizing Small Business Grants Program, eligible businesses located in BGE's service area will have two additional opportunities to apply for grants of up to $20,000: May 5 - June 16, 2021 and September 1 - October 13, 2021. To be eligible, a business must have between one and 25 employees, less than $7 million in annual revenue, a demonstrated need for support, a strong plan for moving forward, and be in (or on the way to) good standing with the state of Maryland.Nominations Now Being Accepted: 2021 Maryland Sustainable Growth Awards
The Maryland Sustainable Growth Awards celebrate significant achievement by individuals, businesses, organizations, and local governments to support the 12 planning visions adopted by the Maryland General Assembly. Awards are given in the categories of Leadership and Service, Sustainable Communities, and Preservation/Conservation. The deadline for nominations is July 23, 2021.
SBA launches the Community Navigator Pilot Program
The U.S. Small Business Administration recently launched the Community Navigator Pilot Program, which will provide counseling, networking and the assistance needed during this time of economic recovery to the nation’s smallest businesses. The program will target small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, as well as women and veterans.
SBDC 2021 Virtual Women's Conference
The COVID-19 outbreak has presented many challenges that have affected different and numerous aspects of women's lives. Many women have taken the opportunity to pivot and emerge, while heightening their business venture. The 2021 Maryland SBDC Women's Conference will address how to rewire the connections. An expert panel will provide resources to assist you to “Redefine, Rebuild, and Regenerate" yourself and your business venture. June 22, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Impacted Workers Support Fund
The Impacted Workers Support Fund provides financial assistance to those Anne Arundel County residents whose employment was affected by the additional restrictions put in place since November 2020. Qualified county residents who were working in an industry that was impacted by new restrictions or lost their job due to the impact of increased COVID-19 cases on or after November 1st, may receive $500 financial support.
