21-15391 - Theft - 100 block of Clay Street
On 5/13/21 at approximately 11:07am, Officers responded to the 100 block of Clay Street for a reported theft of a package. The complainant advised that she received a confirmation email from FEDEX saying that her package was delivered on Wednesday 05/12/2021. The package contained four (4) pairs of Puma sneakers. When she went to retrieve the package, it was not there. Total loss value to the victim was $252.00.
21-15402 - Theft from Vehicle - 200 block of Admiral Drive
On 5/13/21 at approximately 11:49am, Officers responded to the 200 block of Admiral Drive in reference to a reported theft from a vehicle. The complainant advised that an unknown subject gained access into her vehicle and stole her wallet containing cash and three (3) credit cards. Total loss value to the victim was $60.03.
21-15440- Theft/Recovery of a bicycle from 600 block of Taylor Avenue
On 5/13/21 at approximately 6:15pm, Officers responded to the 600 block of Taylor Ave. in reference to a theft of a bicycle. The victim advised that he left his bicycle unattended while purchasing items from a store. When the victim exited the store he realized that his bicycle was no longer where he left it. The victim later located the bicycle in the rear of a nearby church.
Scam Alert
Residents have received phone calls, text messages, and emails from someone identifying themselves as a police officer from a police department or an employee with a federal agency. Some residents are receiving notifications from other sources advising that they owe money or their identity has been compromised or you may have a warrant for your arrest. Phone scammers often disguise their identity by using illegal spoofing techniques to send false information to your caller ID display. In most of these cases, residents are advised to purchase gift cards to fix the issue. Once the gift cards are purchased the resident provides the authorization numbers from the cards to the caller. Once the caller has those numbers the funds on the gift cards can be spent without physical possession of the cards. If you receive a phone call like this DO NOT give the caller any personal or account information. If anyone tells you to pay by gift card or by wiring money—for any reason—that’s a sure sign of a scam.
