In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 73 calls for service and arrested 3 people.
Shooting - 20210000965 - Unit block of Newtowne Drive -On 03/23 at 7:03pm officers responded to the unit block of Newtowne Drive for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and located evidence of a shooting. Prior to officers arrival the adult male victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injury.
During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Kamal Davis, 18, of Annapolis. Davis was located and arrested. He was charged with attempted first degree murder and other related charges and transported to the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
This is an active and fluid investigation and we urge anyone with information about this incident to contact our detectives at 410-260-3439. You can also call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP and submit an anonymous tip. If your tip leads to an arrest or indictment you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
Recently we have noticed an increase in regards to reported scams. We have responded to numerous reports where the victim/reporting person advised that they were scammed.
In some cases the victim/reporting person advised that they were contacted either via telephone or email and the scammer requested that they purchase gift cards and provide the number on the back of the card. If you should receive a call or email similar in nature please gather as much information from the individual as you can to include the phone number and or email address and report it to the Annapolis Police Department immediately. At no time should you purchase any type of gift card and provide the information on the card to an unknown person.
Please also be aware of tax scams as tax season approaches. If you're not certain that the person contacting you is legitimate, you should not provide them with personal information such as your SSN, name, DOB, banking information or address.

Administrative Hearing Board – Public Viewing
The Annapolis Police Department will be conducting an Administrative Hearing Board at the request of a police corporal who disputes the outcome of an Internal Affairs Investigation. In accordance with Annotated Code of Maryland, Public Safety Article, Section 3-107 (e)(1)(ii), “the hearing shall be open to the public, unless the Chief finds a hearing must be closed for good cause, including to protect a confidential informant, an undercover officer, or a child witness.” The live feed of the hearing board will be held at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center at 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, MD 21403 at 8:00 a.m. on March 25-26, 2021. All COVID-19 protocols will be observed. Individuals attending an Administrative Hearing Board must act in a respectful manner. Telephone Reporting and Police Services - COVID-19
The Annapolis Police Department is implementing a policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. When you call to report a crime in Annapolis your call will be screened to see if it falls into a category that is appropriate for telephone reporting. If your call is appropriate for telephone reporting an officer will call you and collect the relevant information and provide you with an event or incident number.
