21-0423 - Theft - 100 block of Main Street
On 2/5/21 Officers responded to the 100 block of Main Street for a reported theft. The owner of the business reported that on 2/1/21 at approximately 3:27 pm 2 unknown individuals stole 4 boxes of sunglasses from the business. Total loss value to the business was approximately $11,000.
21-0435 - Theft of Services - 100 block of Gorman Street
On 2/5/21 at approximately 5:00 am officers responded to the 100 block of Gorman Street for a reported theft of services. The garage attendant advised that a female subject left the garage without paying her parking fee. Officers were able to locate and identify the female who returned to the garage and paid the $20.00 fee. Criminal charges were not pursued.
21-0439 - Theft of Services/Destruction of Property - 100 block of Gorman Street
On 2/5/21 at approximately 9:35 am officers responded to the 100 block of Gorman Street for a reported theft of services and destruction to property. The attendant advised that a male subject left without paying his parking fee and damaged the gate in the process of leaving. The subject was located and agreed to pay for damages and the parking fee that was owed.
21-0445 - Theft - 500 block of S. Cherry Grove
On 2/6/21 at approximately 7:58 pm officers responded to the 500 block of South Cherry Grove Avenue for a reported theft. The store employee advised that an unknown subject entered the store, removed items from the shelves and exited without paying. The value of what was stolen was unknown at the time the report was taken.
21-0447 - Theft - Unit block of Market Space
On 2/6/21 at approximately 11:46 pm officers responded to the unit block of Market Space for a reported theft. An employee of the business advised that a group of individuals left the business without paying their tab. Total loss value to the business was $196.59.
21-0448 - Stolen Vehicle - 600 block of Americana Drive
On 2/7/21 at approximately officers responded to the 600 block of Americana Drive for a report of a stolen auto. The victim reported that his 2008 InfinitiG35 was stolen sometime between 2/7/21 at 12:00 am and 6:30 am.
Scam Alert
Recently we have noticed an increase in regards to reported scams. We have responded to numerous reports where the victim/ reporting person advised that they were scammed.
In some cases the victim/ reporting person advised that they were contacted either via telephone or email and the scammer requested that they purchase gift cards and provide the number on the back of the card. If you should receive a call or email similar in nature please gather as much information from the individual as you can to include the phone number and or email address and report it to the Annapolis Police Department immediately. At no time should you purchase any type of gift card and provide the information on the card to an unknown person.
Please also be aware of tax scams as tax season approaches. If you're not certain that the person contacting you is legitimate, you should not provide them with personal information such as your SSN, name, DOB, banking information or address.
In any situation where you feel that you have been contacted by a scammer or have been scammed please to not hesitate to contact the Annapolis Police Department at 410-268-4141.
