20-4233 - Theft (from vehicle) - 300 Hilltop Lane

On 10/27/20 at approximately 8:47am officers responded to the 300 block of Hilltop Lane for a theft from a vehicle. Officers spoke with the victim who stated that he parked his Ford Edge around midnight and when he returned to the vehicle at approximately 8:30 am he discovered that it had been broken into. Total loss value to the victim was $465.00.



20-4234 - Theft (tags) - 300 block of Hilltop Lane
On 10/27/20 at approximately 9:23am while investigating a theft from vehicle officers were approached by a separate victim. That victim advised that an unknown person stole his front and rear Virginia tags from his vehicle.

20-4235 - Burglary - Unit block of Edelmar Dr.
On 10/27/20 at approximately 9:18am officers responded to the unit block of Edelmar Dr for a burglary. Upon arrival, officers met with the homeowner who stated that when she returned home from being out of town she discovered her house had been broken into. The unknown person kicked in her rear door to gain access. Once inside the residence the subject rummaged through a bedroom and stole jewelry. Total loss value to the victim was $500.

20-4238 - Theft (shoplifting) - 500 block of S. Cherry Grove Ave. 
On 10/27/20 at approximately 9:56am officers responded to the 500 block of S. Cherry Grove Ave. in reference to a reported theft. The store manager advised an unknown male subject entered the store and stole multiple hair cutting related products. Total loss value to the business was $220.23.

20-4240 - Theft (front license plate) - Unit block of Bricin St.
On 10/27/20 at approximately 2:45pm officers responded to the unit block of Bricin Street for a report of a theft. The victim advised an unknown subject removed her front registration plate bearing MD registration 7EA0807 from her 2011 grey Ford Fusion.

20-3834- Update on Shooting- Unit block of Kirby Lane
On October 2, 2020 at approximately 8:19 am officers responded to Anne Arundel Medical Center for a report of a shooting victim. The victim was identified as an adult male. It was determined that the shooting occurred in Annapolis. The victims injuries appear to be non life threatening. As more information becomes available and appropriate to release it will be released at that time.


UPDATE- On October 16, 2020 Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Aatif Jackson 8/28/1993 of Annapolis for his involvement in the shooting that occurred at 5 Kirby Lane, Annapolis on October 2, 2020. Jackson's charges included attempted murder and numerous other handgun related charges.

On October 27, 2020 at approximately 12:27am officers located Aatif Jackson in a vehicle in the area of Forest Drive and Chinquapin Round Road. Jackson was arrested without incident and later transported to the Court Commissioner for his initial appearance. He is currently being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on a no bond status.


 



Telephone Reporting and Police Services - COVID-19 
The Annapolis Police Department is implementing a policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. When you call to report a crime in Annapolis your call will be screened to see if it falls into a category that is appropriate for telephone reporting. If your call is appropriate for telephone reporting an officer will call you and collect the relevant information and provide you with an event or incident number. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
