In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 296 calls for service and arrested 11 people. 20-2668 - Assault (2nd deg.) - 200-299 Main Street On Friday July 10th at approximately 10:48 pm. there was an assault in the area of 217 Main Street. A passerby reported witnessing a male being assaulted by an unknown individual. Upon the officer's arrival he located the male subject who was assaulted. The male subject who was assaulted did not require medical treatment and no arrests were made.
20-2681- Homicide- 1100-1199 Primrose Court On Saturday July 11th at approximately 3:57 pm there was a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Primrose Court. Officers responded for a subject slumped over in a vehicle. An adult male victim was found inside the vehicle suffering from injuries consistent with being shot. The male was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center where he died from his injuries. He was identified as 29 year old Walters Elangwe. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and anyone with information is urged to contact Detectives with our Criminal Investigation Section.
20-2682 - Attempted Armed Robbery - 2200-2299 Bay Ridge Ave. On Saturday July 11th at approximately 7:09 pm there was an attempted armed robbery. A call came out as an attempted robbery of a juvenile in the parking lot of a retail business. The victim stated that he was accosted by three juveniles . He then stated that one of the juveniles brandished a knife, while another one brandished a handgun. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
20-2686 - Theft - 100-199 West St On Sunday July 12th Officers responded for the report of a theft. The victim advised that he left his room briefly and when he returned he noticed that several of his items were missing.. Stolen items included his IPhone 11, Jeep Renegade key-fob, Dell Laptop, pain pills, and his wallet containing his ID and credit cards. Total loss value to the victim was $2,309.
20-2697 - Assault - 0-99 Woods Dr. On Monday July 13th officers responded for an assault that just occurred. Upon arrival, they located a male sitting on the curb a short distance from this location. The subject was bleeding from his left hand. An argument ensued and it led to an assault where the victim's fingers were slashed with a knife. The victim suffered injuries to his four fingers and was later treated at a local hospital. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. Watch Your Car Program: The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft. A small sticker will be placed on your rear window. This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.
