Annapolis Police Department Daily Report

In the last 96 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 469 calls for service and arrested 8 people. 

Stolen and Recovered Mopeds - 202000002538 - 1100-1199 Smithville St - 07/01 at 6pm to 07/02 at 6:45am: Two mopeds that were parked in front of an apartment building were stolen. Both mopeds were located, abandoned in the woods behind the apartment building.

Shots Fired - 202000002539 - 00-99 Pleasant St - 07/02 at 1am: On 07/02 at 7:17am officers responded to the area for a report of two parked vehicles struck by gunfire. No victims or suspects were located.

Theft from Vehicle - 202000002548 - 1200-1299 Graff Ct - 07/03 at 2:28am: An observant caller reported seeing two men enter an apparently unlocked vehicle and steal tools. The men fled when they noticed they were being observed and officers did not locate them. 

Accidental Drowning - 202000002549 - Spa Creek Bridge / Eastport Bridge - 07/03 at 1:27am:  Officers responded for a report of an adult male jumping off the bridge. He did not resurface and the Annapolis Fire Department, Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard responded to search for the man. They located and recovered the body of a deceased adult male. He was identified as John Grider, 33, of Chevy Chase. Preliminary investigation indicates that this appears to be an accidental drowning.

Theft from Vehicle - 202000002553 - 200-299 Farragut Ct - 07/02 at 8:30pm to 07/03 at 9:57am: An airbag was stolen from a Honda Civic. The interior of the vehicle was accessed through a faulty trunk lock.

Stolen Motorcycle - 20200002554 - 1100-1199 Primrose Ct - 07/02 at 10pm to 07/03 at 11:20am: A black 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R motorcycle, MD reg. 551Y33, was stolen. The motorcycle has a sticker on it reading, “see you space cowboy”. 

Attempted Burglary - 202000002576 - 900-999 West St - 07/04 at 9:40 pm: An observant caller reported two adult male suspects outside a business. One of the suspects threw a brick at the glass door to the business. The glass broke, but did not shatter. The suspects fled when they noticed they were being observed. No entry was made into the business. Officers did not locate the suspects.

Theft from Vehicle - 202000002587 - 1000-1099 Boucher Av - 07/05 from 12:59pm to 1:29pm: A wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Theft from Vehicle - 202000002590 - 1900-1999 West St - 07/01 to 07/05: A Sony Carplay stereo, Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and a back up camera were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Homicide - 202000002594 - 1000-1099 Great Bay Dr - 07/06 at 1:07am: An adult male victim was outside in the area when he was apparently stabbed by an unknown suspect. The victim was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center and died from his injuries. This investigation is active and anyone with information is urged to contact our detectives at 410-260-3439. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP.


 
Telephone Reporting and Police Services - COVID-19 
The Annapolis Police Department is implementing a policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. When you call to report a crime in Annapolis your call will be screened to see if it falls into a category that is appropriate for telephone reporting. If your call is appropriate for telephone reporting an officer will call you and collect the relevant information and provide you with an event or incident number. Our non-emergency phone number is 410-268-4141.

Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
