Annapolis Small Business Recovery Task Force

The Annapolis Small Business Recovery Task Force was established through Annapolis City Council Resolution R-25-25 to focus on the experiences that Annapolis businesses are facing in the time of COVID-19 and to come up with recommendations for assistance for the local small business community. Continue to check the website for more information on how the Task Force can be of assistance to you and your business.

Maryland Business Emergency Operations Center

During emergencies and disasters, close collaboration between the Maryland Emergency Management Agency and the private sector is critical in protecting citizens and rebuilding communities. The Maryland Business Emergency Operations Center is MEMA’s two-way conduit for information sharing between public and private sector stakeholders. All Maryland businesses are encouraged to find out more information on the MBEOC and MEMA’s Private Sector Integration Program and to consider joining. Signing up is easy and only takes a few minutes.

Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce Virtual Connection Series

Every Tuesday at 3pm the Chamber will be hosting a virtual “meet up” to bring the business community together online via Zoom.  Each week you will have the opportunity to virtually connect with other business owners while also gaining insightful knowledge about how to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis. The next Meet Up will be on Tuesday, May 5th with a focus on how to create a post COVID-19 pivot plan.

Beware of Scams and Fraud Schemes

The Office of Inspector General recognizes that we are facing unprecedented times and is alerting the public about potential fraud schemes related to economic stimulus programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration in response to the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19). The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the largest financial assistance bill to date, includes provisions to help small businesses. Fraudsters have already begun targeting small business owners during these economically difficult times.  Be on the lookout for grant fraud, loan fraud, and phishing.

SBA Virtual Mentoring and Training

Offices around the country may be closed to the Coronavirus pandemic, but SCORE, Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers, and Veterans Business Outreach Centers and other resource partners are providing free business mentoring and training by phone, email, and video. Find an SBA resource partner near you.

Virtual Maryland Arts Summit

Taking place online Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29. The Maryland Arts Summit is the first of its kind for the arts sector in Maryland, highlighting the work that is being done through our communities. Dialogue, learning and networking opportunities will focus on the growth of Maryland arts.

Attention Vendors Offering COVID-19 Supplies

In response to COVID-19, the Maryland Department of General Services' Office of State Procurement has introduced a new Request for Information (RFI) template in eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA). If your company would like to be considered as a vendor to the State of Maryland for COVID-19 supplies, please register as a vendor in eMMA or update your existing vendor profile. Select the products and services code "42000000 - Medical Equipment and Accessories and Supplies." To access the RFI from the home page without logging in, select "Public Solicitations," then enter "COVID" into the "Keywords" box and perform a search. The RFI template is titled "COVID-19 Emergency Medical Supplies," ID #BPM019116.

SBR Recertification

The small business community has access to over $400 million in prime contracting opportunities on state-funded contracts through the Small Business Reserve (SBR) Program. SBR certification takes place in the eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA) platform. Once certified, firms must recertify annually. Firms that do not complete the online recertification process in eMMA by the renewal date are automatically removed from the program and are not eligible to receive a designated SBR contract. They must complete the application process again to rejoin the program. If you are certified as an SBR vendor, please visit your eMMA vendor profile to determine your recertification date. If you are not in the program or missed your recertification date, please complete the SBR certification process today.

MBE Program Update

The Office of Minority Business Enterprise (OMBE), while operating under the governor's social distancing directives, will continue to process requests for certification. Applicants will be contacted by telephone to perform the required interview with the owner(s). The mandatory on-site visit at your place of business will be performed when business operations return to normal. Firms that are currently certified should continue to submit Annual Renewal documentation as requested. Use of the on-line portal is recommended as the most efficient way to submit the required documentation. New applications for certification and expansion of services requests are being accepted, but they will not be processed for the next 30 days. An OMBE officer will be in contact with applicants when we return to normal business operations.
