In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 234 calls for service and arrested 8 people.
 
Theft from Vehicle – 202000001347 – 00-99 Jefferson Pl – 03/27 from 3:20am to 3:50am: Area cameras captured an unknown suspect trying vehicle door handles. Money and a dashcam were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
 
Theft from Vehicle – 202000001352 – 1400-1499 Damsel La – 03/20 at 1pm to 03/27 at 11:20am: Prescription sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
 
Theft from Vehicle – 202000001354 – 200-299 McKendree Av – 03/26 at 6pm to 03/27 at 9am: Money was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
 
Attempted Thefts from Vehicles – 202000001359 – 100-199 Prince George St – 03/27 from 10:45pm to 11:05pm: An observant caller reported three suspects checking vehicle door handles in the area and entering one unlocked vehicle. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle. The suspects were not located.
 
UPDATE Stolen Vehicle – 202000001308 – 1700-1799 Forest Dr – 03/23 at 6am to 03/24 at 5:50pm: A black 2002 Honda Civic four door sedan, with MD reg. 5EE2575, was stolen. On 03/28 at 1:40am an officer observed the stolen Honda being operated in the 400 block of Sixth St. The officer followed the vehicle, without attempting to stop it, while waiting for more officers to respond. After losing sight of the vehicle officers located it, unoccupied, in the 100 block of Hanover St. No occupants were located.
 
Stolen & Recovered Vehicle – 202000001360 – 100-199 Northwest St – 03/27 at 6pm to 03/28 at 10:15am: A 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe was stolen after it was apparently left unlocked with a spare key inside. On 03/28 at 4:15pm officers observed the vehicle being operated on Bay Ridge Av. Officers stopped the vehicle in the 1100 block of Madison St and the four occupants fled out of the vehicle on foot. The driver and front passenger were stopped and identified as juveniles. The juveniles were charged with motor vehicle theft on juvenile citations and released to their guardians.


 
Telephone Reporting and Police Services - COVID-19
The Annapolis Police Department is implementing a policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. When you call to report a crime in Annapolis your call will be screened to see if it falls into a category that is appropriate for telephone reporting. If your call is appropriate for telephone reporting an officer will call you and collect the relevant information and provide you with an event or incident number. Our non-emergency phone number is 410-268-4141.
 
Citizen fingerprinting has been cancelled through April 20, 2020. At this time we plan to restart citizen fingerprinting on Monday, April 27th at 6:30pm. There may be continued cancellations of citizen fingerprinting announced at a later date.

RESCHEDULED Spring Fling Scholarship Fundraiser
The Annapolis Police Department benefit for the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund has been rescheduled to 06/11 at the Annapolis Market House. The event starts at 6pm for VIP tickets and at 7pm for standard tickets. Tickets range in price from $45 to $75. There will be food from Paladar, the Market House, Tarin Thai, Mission BBQ and Park Deli. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
