In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 74 calls for service and arrested 3 people.
Attempted Theft from Vehicle – 202000001235 – 200-299 Farragut Ct – 03/17 at 6pm to 03/18 at 11am: An unlocked vehicle was entered, but nothing was stolen.
Armed Robbery – 202000001241 – 00-99 Bens Dr – 03/18 at 7pm: The adult male victim reported that he was in the hallway of an apartment building when he was approached by two male suspects each holding a handgun. The suspects pointed the guns at the victim, demanded money and stole money from the victim. Officers discovered that at least one of the suspects went into an apartment. Officers arrived and attempted to make contact with the occupants of the apartment and eventually one of the suspects exited the apartment and was arrested. The other suspect was also located in the apartment and arrested. Alkein Coates, 22, and Jamari Smith, 16, both of Annapolis were charged with armed robbery and seven other related charges. Coates was temporarily committed to the Jennifer Road Detention Center prior to his hearing before the District Court Commissioner. Smith is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
Telephone Reporting and Police Services - COVID-19
The Annapolis Police Department is implementing a policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. When you call to report a crime in Annapolis your call will be screened to see if it falls into a category that is appropriate for telephone reporting. If your call is appropriate for telephone reporting an officer will call you and collect the relevant information and provide you with an event or incident number. Our non-emergency phone number is 410-268-4141.
Citizen fingerprinting scheduled for Monday, 03/16, and Monday, 03/23, will be cancelled. We will make a decision regarding the possible continued cancellation of citizen fingerprinting at a later date.
At this time all other services offered by the Annapolis Police Department are continuing. RESCHEDULED Spring Fling Scholarship Fundraiser
The Annapolis Police Department benefit for the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund has been rescheduled to 06/11 at the Annapolis Market House. The event starts at 6pm for VIP tickets and at 7pm for standard tickets. Tickets range in price from $45 to $75. There will be food from Paladar, the Market House, Tarin Thai, Mission BBQ and Park Deli.
