In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 253 calls for service and arrested 6 people.
 
Attempted Armed Robbery – 202000001187 – 900-999 Bay Ridge Av – 03/13 at 5:05pm: On 03/14 a robbery was reported that occurred the day before. The adult female victim reported that she had just deposited money at an ATM and was in her vehicle when she was approached by an adult male suspect brandishing a utility knife. The man demanded money from the victim, but she pushed him and drove off. Nothing was stolen from the victim.
 
Burglary – 202000001197 – 900-999 Carrollton Av – 03/14 at 10pm to 03/15 at 7:21am: A window to an enclosed patio was forced open, but the home was not entered and nothing was reported stolen.
 
Fatal Shooting – 202000001202 – 00-99 Bens Dr – 03/15 at 6:23pm: Officers responded for reports of shots fired and a possible shooting victim. They discovered an adult male shooting victim outside between two apartment buildings. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed the shooting occurred outside where the victim was found. Detectives are investigating this death. We urge anyone with information to contact our detectives at 410-260-3439 or submit anonymous tips by calling Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.


 
Telephone Reporting and Police Services - COVID-19
The Annapolis Police Department is implementing a policy of telephone reporting for relatively minor and non-violent crimes. When you call to report a crime in Annapolis your call will be screened to see if it falls into a category that is appropriate for telephone reporting. If your call is appropriate for telephone reporting an officer will call you and collect the relevant information and provide you with an event or incident number. Our non-emergency phone number is 410-268-4141.
 
Citizen fingerprinting scheduled for Monday, 03/16, and Monday, 03/23, will be cancelled. We will make a decision regarding the possible continued cancellation of citizen fingerprinting at a later date.
 
At this time all other services offered by the Annapolis Police Department are continuing. If you have any questions about a specific service, please call our administrative phone number, 410-268-9000, during business hours. Our administrative business hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. For more information about other city services, the Annapolis Call Center will be activated at 8am on Monday, 03/16. The Annapolis Call Center’s phone number is 410-260-2211. The Warm Line operates Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 10:30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.


 
RESCHEDULED Spring Fling Scholarship Fundraiser
The Annapolis Police Department benefit for the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund has been rescheduled to 06/11 at the Annapolis Market House. The event starts at 6pm for VIP tickets and at 7pm for standard tickets. Tickets range in price from $45 to $75. There will be food from Paladar, the Market House, Tarin Thai, Mission BBQ and Park Deli. The second session of the Chief’s Lecture Series that was scheduled for 03/26 is cancelled. The next session is scheduled for 04/16. The location and topic will be posted soon.

Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
