In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 82 calls for service and arrested 4 people.       
 
Stolen Vehicle – 202000000690 – 00-99 Bricin St – 02/12 at 5pm to 02/13 at 8:30am: A red 1997 Ford Ranger, MD reg. A250765, was stolen when it was left unlocked with the keys inside.
 
UPDATE Shooting – 202000000670 – 1100-1199 Madison St – 02/11 at 11:37pm: Officers were in the area when they heard shots being fired and located a 29 year old male victim suffering injuries consistent with being shot. The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The shooting occurred outside in the 1100 block of Madison St. UPDATE – After the shooting detectives located a handgun outside in the 1100 block of Madison St. The handgun was reported stolen to Anne Arundel County Police Department in 2019. Through investigation detectives determined that John King, 29, of Annapolis was in possession of the handgun. King is prohibited from possessing a handgun due to prior felony conviction. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for King charging him with five criminal charges related to possessing the handgun. On 02/13 King was located and arrested. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond. UPDATE Armed Carjacking – 202000000688 – 00-99 Johnson Pl – 02/13 at 1:48am: The 17 year old male victim reported that he was meeting someone in the area when his vehicle was approached by a male suspect holding a sledge hammer. The suspect took the victim’s vehicle and drove away onto Spa Rd at a high rate of speed. The speeding vehicle drew the attention of an officer on Spa Rd and as the officer turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle it was driven off the roadway and struck a wall in front of Bay Shore Landing Apartments in the 900 block of Spa Rd. The suspect struck three parked vehicles in the apartment complex and then fled the vehicle on foot. Officers quickly stopped and arrested him. UPDATE – The suspect is identified as Edgar Ortega, 17, of Annapolis. He was charged as an adult with armed carjacking, armed robbery and sixteen other criminal counts related to this incident. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.


 
City Offices Closed & No Citizen Fingerprinting
City offices will be closed Monday, 02/17, in observance of Presidents Day. No citizen fingerprinting will be offered Monday, 02/17. Citizen fingerprinting will resume Monday, 02/24, at 6:30pm.


 
Eastport Working Together
Harbour House and Eastport Terrace residents, Eastport neighbors, and government and community leaders are invited to attend an Eastport Working Together meeting on Tuesday, 02/18, at 6:30pm at the Rosalie Mitchell Community Center, 1014 President St. Eastport Working Together is a collective group of residents committed to listening, engaging and investing in the Eastport community by organizing around challenging issues that affect residents. Everyone is welcome.


 
Chief’s Lecture Series

Annapolis Police Chief Edward Jackson will lead an informative conversation about the U.S. Constitution on 02/27 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church at 1120 Spa Road. Spring Fling Scholarship Fundraiser
The Annapolis Police Department is co-hosting a benefit for the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund on 03/18 at the Annapolis Market House. The event starts at 6pm for VIP tickets and at 7pm for standard tickets. Tickets range in price from $45 to $75. Submitting Anonymous Tips to Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland


Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you phone in or submit your Annapolis crime tip online or through the P3 Tips smartphone app Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Metro Crime Stoppers uses a special coding system to protect your identity, they do not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. If your tip leads to the arrest or indictment of a person for a felony you could qualify for up to a $2,000 cash reward from Metro Crime Stoppers. You can submit a tip by calling 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587), visiting www.metrocrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips smartphone app. The app can be found in the Apple or Android app stores by searching for P3 Tips. You can also call a tip into us directly at 410-280-CLUE (2583).

Watch Your Car Program:  The Watch Your Car Program helps prevent vehicle theft.  A small sticker will be placed on your rear window.  This sticker alerts officers nationwide that your vehicle is not normally driven during the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.  The vehicle may be stopped to verify ownership.  For more information about the program contact us at police@annapolis.gov.
