In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 102 calls for service and arrested 4 people.
Theft from Vehicle – 202000000678 – 200-299 Old Solomons Island Rd – 02/10 from 6pm to 6:30pm: A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Armed Carjacking – 202000000688 – 00-99 Johnson Pl – 02/13 at 1:48am: The 17 year old male victim reported that he drove to the area to meet a female. Once he stopped his vehicle he was approached by a male suspect holding a sledge hammer. The suspect said he was armed with a handgun and threatened to kill the victim. The victim fled from the vehicle on foot, dropping his keys. The suspect picked up the keys and drove the vehicle away onto Spa Rd at a high rate of speed. The speeding vehicle drew the attention of an officer on Spa Rd and as the officer turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle it was driven off the roadway and struck a wall in front of Bay Shore Landing Apartments in the 900 block of Spa Rd. The suspect continued to operate the stolen vehicle, striking three parked vehicles in the apartment complex. The driver fled the vehicle on foot, but officers quickly stopped him. He was identified as a 17 year old male from Annapolis. He was arrested and is currently awaiting his initial hearing before the District Commissioner. He will be identified after he has been charged as an adult with these crimes.

City offices will be closed Monday, 02/17, in observance of Presidents Day. No citizen fingerprinting will be offered Monday, 02/17. Citizen fingerprinting will resume Monday, 02/24, at 6:30pm.

The Annapolis Police Department is co-hosting a benefit for the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund on 03/18 at the Annapolis Market House.
