Annapolis Offers Free Two-Hour Metered Parking on Valentine's Day
The City of Annapolis is offering two hours of free parking as an incentive to use ParkMobile on Valentine’s Day. Residents and visitors who enter the code “ParkDTA” on the ParkMobile smartphone app will receive two hours free beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020. After 7:30 p.m., meters are free even without Parkmobile. ParkMobile also offers a toll-free number for those who don’t use a smartphone. The toll-free number 877-727-5758 (or 877 PARK 758) is posted on meters and signage.
Have a Heart, Do your Part! A Pop-Up Cleanup
Annapolis Green is calling upon community and business groups to join in for a fun, fast and effective litter pickup and cleanup. The goal is to enlist 10 or more civic and business organizations throughout the City to express and promote Pride of Place. The cleanup will take place Sunday, February 23, 2-4 pm, followed by celebration at Annapolis Market House. Annapolis Planning Commission's Form-Based Code Presentation
The Planning Commission will be hosting a
learning session on Form-Based Codes, an alternative to traditional zoning that focuses more on what a building looks like than the use. The session will be held at 7 pm on February 18, 2020 at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center. The Recreation Center is located at 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis. The learning session will provide local knowledge about how these codes have been applied in neighboring jurisdictions.

Business Appreciation Week is April 27-May 1. Ambassador groups will take part in visits to businesses large and small around the county – including the City Annapolis. The purpose is to learn more about your business, talk through any assistance needs and present you with a citation as a thank you for doing business. Business owners interested in hosting an ambassador group visit should fill out a request form.

Applications are now being accepted for TEDCO;s Investment Funds. TEDCO is Maryland's economic engine for technology companies. Applications are now being accepted for four investment funds: Rural Business Innovation Initiative, Builder Fund, Seed Funds, and Maryland Venture Fund.
SBA Offering Grants to Open New Women's Business Center in Maryland
Up to two grants worth $75,000 each are available for organizations to start a center, which are aimed at providing resources to help women entrepreneurs start, sustain and grow companies. The new center would help provide "greater geographic coverage" in Maryland, according to a release from the SBA. To apply to host a center, organizations must be private nonprofits with 501(c) status. Applications for the SBA grants are available at grants.gov and will close on Feb. 16.
Reminder: Annapolis Sidewalk Sign Ordinance
Annapolis City Council recently passed an ordinance (O-42-18) authorizing sidewalk signs with certain conditions. This legislation ensures that signs are placed in a way that does not impede pedestrian traffic or ADA access. Sidewalk signs will now require a sign permit and an indemnity bond. If you are located in the Historic District, you will need to submit a Historic Preservation Commission Administrative Approval Application for Certificate of Approval. All fees will be waived if sign application is received by March 23, 2020.
