Sign up now for winter programs starting now! The winter 2020 program guide is online. Registering for Programs:
  • New Program Registration and payments must be done in person at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center (PMRC). You MUST bring a valid ID and proof of residency if you live within City of Annapolis limits.
  • Already Enrolled Participants may pay for program registration and childcare over the phone using a credit card as long as no paperwork is needed to complete the transaction.
  • Online Registration is NOW available!

Instruction by Annapolis Area Tennis School. Held for six weeks on the PMRC courts (indoors). Register directly with AATS:

  • Beginner for age 8-12, Thursdays, 6-7 pm, starts tomorrow January 9
Youth Dance Classes
Annapolis Recreation and Parks has partnered with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland to provide professional dance instruction for people of all ages in the Annapolis communities! 2020 is a year of change and growth for our dance classes – and we now provide instruction for teens! Classes begin the week of January 13. Classes meet 2 times per week. The final week each class will have a recital. Held in PMRC Studio A. R $160 / NR $187
Ballet, Tap & Jazz Age 3-17
Ballet warm-up, followed by either jazz or ballet movement center floor, ending with tap technique. This class also touches on creative exploration through imagery and props. Students need dance clothes and ballet and tap shoes. Classes begin the week of January 13.

Ballet, Tap & Tumbling Age 3-5
Students will do a ballet warm-up, followed by basic tumbling skills, ending with beginner tap steps. This class will also explore creative movement through various props. Students need dance clothes and ballet and tap shoes. Classes begin the week of January 13.

NEW Sweetheart DanceFriday, February 7, 6:30-8:30 pm
You are cordially invited to the NEW Sweetheart Dance! Formerly the Daddy Daughter Dance, this year we are inviting everyone! This new annual family-friendly Valentine’s Day celebration is open to all parents/caregivers and their children. Come out for an evening of dancing and delicious treats. A special keepsake photograph will be given to each family included in the registration price. Advanced registration required. Each additional child is $15. Dress attire is semi-formal.

The Annapolis REACH program seeks youth talent and all aged volunteers to help with its production of The Wiz! Help is wanted for young talent – elementary to high school age – for roles in the upcoming The Wiz musical, as well as volunteers of all ages to help with set design, construction, costumes and general stagehand needs. The performance will be held this spring in Annapolis (date and location still to be finalized.)
Auditions for performers continues this week at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center:
  • Wednesday, January 8 at 6 pm
  • Thursday, January 9 at 6 pm
  • Saturday, January 11 at noon

Scholarship Program  for all City Residents (youth and adults)
The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online. Pickleball Fitness class held Thursdays at noon!

Two new fitness classes – Movement for Motion and Pickleball Fitness!
  • Movement for Motion – Do you struggle to keep up with the kids, sweat walking the dog or wonder if today is going to be the day I fall? This program is designed especially for people with Parkinson's disease, other movement disorders or people who fear falling. Taught by a certified therapist who works on rewiring the mechanisms of the brain so better healthy movement is possible!

  • Pickleball Fitness – We all know how infectious and just plain fun pickleball is! Join us for a fitness class aimed at agility, speed, strength and endurance as you can get the most out of your pickleball game whatever your level or goals.

Don't wait until a fall happens to you or a loved one. Join us for a very important four-part series! These seminars are for ALL ages and ALL abilities.

Studio B is closed for repairs indefinitely. Fitness classes now take place in new locations (Studio A, Aux Gym or Meeting Room 1). With the rain in recent days, the City of Annapolis Public Works Department is determining that the repaired leak is thoroughly fixed before proceeding to the reconstruction of the flooring.
Fitness Class Schedule – The fitness class schedule now indicates which room each class is being held. Next to each class time, you will see an A, Aux, C, Track or 1 to indicate the class location being held in Studio A, Aux Gym, Cycling Studio, Indoor Track or Meeting Room 1, respectively. Job Readiness Center – This OIC Job Readiness Center provides free Basic Computer Classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm. This is an ongoing course offered every three months. Please call OIC at 443.433.5894 for the next course start date.
Adult Basic Skills Classes are offered at the Stanton Community Center. They are held Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. The fall classes begin this month. For test preparation classes, please call 410.777.1823 or go to Adult Basic Skills Classes. To be eligible for free ABS classes, students must be 16 years or older and officially withdrawn from high school.

GreenScape 2020 Meetings
