Parking Tips for 2020 Legislative Session 


Mayor Gavin Buckley welcomes members of the Maryland General Assembly, their staff, and visitors back to Annapolis for the 2020 legislative session starting Wednesday, January 8th. The City and Annapolis Parking offer tips for convenient parking downtown.

Reminder: Annapolis Sidewalk Sign Ordinance 


Annapolis City Council recently passed an ordinance (O-42-18) authorizing sidewalk signs with certain conditions. This legislation ensures that signs are placed in a way that does not impede pedestrian traffic or ADA access. Sidewalk signs will now require a sign permit and an indemnity bond.  If you are located in the Historic District, you will need to submit a Historic Preservation Commission Administrative Approval Application for Certificate of Approval. All fees will be waived if sign application is received by March 23, 2020.

Annapolis Restaurant Week 2020 dates have been announced for Feb 29 to March 8. Annapolis Restaurant Week is a 9-day, fixed-priced promotion every year near the end of winter to give people a nice reason to get out of the house and try something new. The goal is to attract thousands of diners, many of whom see Restaurant Week as an excuse to try an establishment for the first time. Sign up now to be part of this event. 


Be Part of Maryland Day Weekend


Maryland Day Weekend event planning is now in full swing. This annual event on March 20th through March 22nd brings thousands of visitors to Annapolis. Businesses and organizations that feature local products, art, culture or heritage are invited to be a part of the weekend's events. To learn how to be a part of the weekend or to be a sponsor contact debbie@theccm.org. 

Annapolis Planning Commission's Form-Based Code Presentation


The Planning Commission will be hosting a learning session on Form-Based Codes, an alternative to traditional zoning that focuses more on what a building looks like than the use. The session will be held at 7 pm on February 18, 2020 at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center. The Recreation Center is located at 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis. The learning session will provide local knowledge about how these codes have been applied in neighboring jurisdictions.

SBE Certification Workshop and Project Information Session


MDOT’s Office of Small and Minority Business Policy (OSMBP) is hosting two FREE SBE Application Assistance Workshops on January 21st and July 21st from 9am-12pm at MDOT Headquarters, located at 7201 Corporate Center Drive Hanover, MD 21076.  These workshops explain program eligibility standards, benefits of certification, and the application process.  Attendees will also hear directly from agency personnel about upcoming SBE-designated contracts. Truxtun Heights Storm Drainage Study


The Central Purchasing Office of the City of Annapolis is accepting sealed proposals for engineering design services for storm water drainage until 2:00 p.m., local time, Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Interested parties are invited to attend a pre-proposal conference at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the City Office Complex, 145 Gorman Street, third floor conference room in downtown Annapolis.The scope of services for this RFP includes, but is not limited to develop a storm drainage study (report) to develop alternatives to address the issues of flooding, minor flood, drainage flowing from the roadway onto private property and erosion. 

Automated External Defibrillator


The Central Purchasing Office of the City of Annapolis is accepting sealed bids for medical equipment until 2:00 P. M., local time, Wednesday, February 5, 2020.The Annapolis Fire Department intends to purchase four (4) new automated external defibrillators for use in Emergency Medical Services.


Cheston Avenue Bulkhead Replacement


The Central Purchasing Office of the City of Annapolis is accepting sealed proposals for engineering design services for bulkhead replacement until 2:00 p.m., local time, Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Interested parties are invited to attend a pre-proposal conference at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2020 at the City Office Complex, 145 Gorman Street, Third floor conference room in downtown Annapolis. The scope of services for this RFP includes, but is not limited to, obtaining permits, providing construction plans, specifications; detailed construction cost estimates, and bid documents for the replacement of the City's bulkhead and landing at Cheston Avenue.

Maryland Nonprofit Development Center Program and Fund - Nonprofit, Interest-Free, Micro Bridge Loan Account (NIMBL)


This interest-free, micro bridge loan program and fund supports the operations of nonprofit entities. The program is administered by the Maryland Nonprofit Development Center and the Maryland Department of Commerce.  The program provides short-term financing support to qualifying nonprofit entities between the award date of a government contract and the actual receipt date of those awarded funds. Nonprofits receiving NIMBL funding must be located in the State and determined by the Internal Revenue Service to be exempt from taxation under Section 501(c) (3), (4), or (6) under the Internal Revenue Code.
