In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 106 calls for service and arrested 7 people.
Theft from Vehicle – 202000000027 – 00-99 Ellington Dr – 01/01 at 11pm to 01/02 at 8:45am: The window to the vehicle was smashed and a credit card and phone charger were stolen.
Theft of a Package – 202000000033 – 1300-1399 Tyler Av – 01/02 from 2:40pm to 3pm: A package was stolen after it was delivered to the porch of a home.
Handgun Violation – 202000000040 – 1100-1199 Madison St – 01/02 at 7:38pm: Officers observed a group of five suspects outside involved in an illegal game of chance. When officers approached all the suspects fled on foot. Four of the men fleeing were stopped. One of them, Collin Flannigan, 23, of Annapolis was carrying a loaded handgun. Flannigan was charged with trespassing and three counts relating to carrying the handgun. Flannigan was released by the District Court Commissioner on his own recognizance. The other three men, Nathaniel Gross, 34, Vincent Jones, 27, and Akeem Howard, 24, all of Annapolis were also arrested. Gross was charged with trespassing, Jones with trespassing and gambling and Howard with gambling, trespassing and disorderly conduct. The three were released on citations.
Public Comment Sought for Accreditation
The Annapolis Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: Policy and Procedures, Administration, Operations, and Support Services. The Annapolis Police Department was first accredited by CALEA® in 2004.
As part of this on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments. A public information session will be held as follows:

Agency employees and the public who are unable to attend the information session are invited to offer comments by calling the CALEA® assessors on the unrecorded line of 410-268-9000 ext. 4244 on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Telephone comments, as well as comments at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the applicable CALEA® standards.
