City of Annapolis is Closed for Maryland Day on
Wednesday, March 25, 2020
Annapolis, MD (March 24, 2020) – The City of Annapolis is closed for Maryland Day on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
Trash and recycling pickups will follow the normal schedule. Bus service will continue on a normal weekday operating schedule, with no evening Purple service.
Maryland Day is observed on March 25 to mark the landing of 150 European settlers who arrived on two ships, “The Ark” and “The Dove.” They disembarked in 1634 at St. Clement’s Island in the Potomac River (in what is today St. Mary’s County).
Marylanders began officially observing Maryland Day in 1903. In 1916, the day was designated a legal holiday.
Please note that senior leadership and department directors will be working remotely with Office of Emergency Management on issues relating to the current State of Emergency.
