City of Annapolis COVID-19 Updates for Sunday, March 15, 2020
ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 15, 2020) - On Thursday, March 12, Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley signed a Declaration of State of Emergency. The declaration enables the activation of the Mayor’s emergency authorities and allows for additional mutual aid resources. As of Monday morning (March 16) at 8 a.m. the Annapolis Call Center will be activated to answer resident questions. Reach the Call Center at 410-260-2211.
For questions about COVID-19, please call the Department of Health Warm Line at 410-222-7256.
Given the spread of the virus and the increasing number of cases in Maryland, the City is moving from a containment strategy (targeted efforts to limit the spread of the virus by specific individuals) toward a mitigation strategy (broad efforts to limit the spread within the population).
We need residents to do their part. Follow the Department of Health guidelines and practice social distancing (six feet apart), wash your hands thoroughly and often, clean and disinfect surfaces and avoid large gatherings. More information on how to protect yourself and your family is available at www.aahealth.org.
“The health, safety, and security for City of Annapolis residents, visitors and City staff are of paramount importance right now,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley. “We can do this if we are unified and working toward a common goal. We need to flatten the curve of this epidemic and make sure that everyone doesn’t get sick at once. I know we can do it because we are a strong community. We’ll get through this together.”
