Ripley Race 5K to Support USNA Graduate Col. John Ripley Rolls Out Sunday to Raise Awareness for War Veterans
ANNAPOLIS, MD (November 4, 2019) - The 11th Annual Ripley Race 5K will take place in Annapolis on Sunday, November 10th, and is expected to host about 1,500 runners. The 5K road race is run each year to raise awareness for war veterans and to honor the legacy and heroism of one of Annapolis' most distinguished war heroes, Col. John Ripley, a 1962 graduate of the Naval Academy.
The total race time is estimated to be one hour, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 9 a.m. Street closures are expected between the Main Street corridor and USNA Gate 1, starting at 8:05 a.m. Runners should be in the neighborhoods listed below at these approximate times:
Main Street to Randall Street and out King George Street from 8:05 to 8:30 a.m
Main Street from 8:05 to 8:25 a.m.
West Annapolis at Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd and Taylor Ave. from 8:10 to 8:35 a.m.
Taylor Ave. at Rowe Blvd. from 8 to 8:10 a.m. and from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m.
All streets listed will open and close on a rolling basis. Homes and churches along the race route have been notified. There will be no loss of parking for this event.
The run begins at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and will come down Rowe Blvd., around Church Circle, down Main Street, over to Gate 1 and back up King George Street, finishing at the stadium.
The race benefits the Semper Fi Fund and The Station Foundation. The Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, providing immediate financial support for injured and critically-ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The Station Foundation is a 501(c)3 focused on creating a balanced environment for Special Operations Forces returning from home and entering civilian life.
