“Parklets” Are Coming to West Annapolis
Extending Outdoor Dining at Four Locations

Annapolis, MD (August 2, 2019) – Four businesses in West Annapolis are happy to be partnering with the City of Annapolis to get “parklets” in front of their businesses to extend service to customers. A parklet is a constructed platform that extends the sidewalk.

Parklets will offer advantages to the West Annapolis business community:

Serve as traffic calming along Annapolis Street

Make the street more pedestrian-friendly

Provide additional seating/capacity for the restaurants without additional cost

Allow patrons to linger in the business corridor of West Annapolis

Each of the parklets will be 24 feet in length. They will be installed, with the business owners’ permission, on Annapolis Street in front of Bean Rush Cafe and Rutabaga (between Giddings Ave. and Melvin Ave.), and between Taylor Avenue and Giddings Avenue in front of Evelyn’s and Flamant.

“This is one of the ways Annapolis works to be responsive to the needs of the business community,” said Stephen Rice, the Economic Development Manager for the City of Annapolis. This is a win for businesses, pedestrians and patrons.

The City of Annapolis Department of Public Works is installing the parklets beginning August 5.
