WHAT: Press Conference to Address Recent Gun Violence
WHERE: Robinwood Recreation Center (5 p.m.) and Eastport Community Center (5:30 p.m.)
WHEN: May 24, 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
WHY: Last week, the neighborhoods near Robinwood (off Forest Drive) and Harbour House in Eastport experienced a spate of gun violence. In all, roughly 40 shots were fired over the course of four incidents. Two people were injured. In the aftermath of the violence, Annapolis City Mayor Gavin Buckley told City officials that any level of gun violence in the City is unacceptable.
At the media event, Buckley, along with HACA Executive Director Beverly Wilbourn and Acting Police Chief Paul Herman, Alderwoman Pindell Charles and the resident council presidents of each neighborhood will discuss immediate intervention strategies. The briefing will include details on how police and city officials can work with residents to ensure community safety.
DIRECTIONS: Directions from Forest Drive to Robinwood Recreation Center and Eastport Community Center: RRC – take Tyler Ave. off of Forest Drive into Robinwood and take the fourth left into the Recreation Center parking lot. To ECC – leave Robinwood and take a right onto Forest Drive, a right where Hilltop Lane becomes Tyler Ave, and a left on President Street. The Eastport Community Center will be on your left after Fredrick Douglass Street.
