MONDAY: Cardin, Sarbanes, Buckley to Make Earth Day Announcement on New Efforts to Restore
and Protect the Chesapeake Bay, Environment

 

MONDAY, APRIL 22 at 12:00 PM, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin and U.S. Representative John Sarbanes (Both D-Md.) will join Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley, federal and state agency officials, leaders of prominent regional conservation organizations and a diverse array of environmental advocates for a press conference at the Annapolis City Dock.


Sen. Cardin and Rep. Sarbanes will announce forthcoming legislation to reauthorize the Chesapeake Bay Gateways and River Trails Network and spotlight efforts to strengthen the EPA Chesapeake Bay Program and promote clean water, healthy wildlife and enhanced recreational access. Mayor Buckley will address local environmental initiatives to combat sea level rise, address waterways pollution, and the City's effort to provide transit alternatives.


Participants also will underscore the many connections between environmental quality, the regional economy and the quality of life for citizens throughout the watershed.
