Office of Mayor Gavin Buckley
City of Annapolis
160 Duke of Gloucester Street
Annapolis, Maryland 21401
April 7, 2019
On behalf of all of us in Annapolis, the news of Speaker Mike Busch’s passing is a devastating loss.
I offer my condolences to his wife Cindy and their daughters, Erin and Megan.
Mike was a friend long before he was a political colleague. I loved the favorite son of Annapolis and his fearless fighting for the underdog.
He will always be remembered as the people’s politician. He stood up for our kids, our schools, recreation, health care and a living wage. He made a difference in all the things that matter to the average person.
He had a sixth sense for doing what was right and he was a fighter for those things. He was the leader for Democratic values in Maryland.
But he also loved what he did. There is no one that has impacted local politics in the same way.
The state of Maryland has lost its Speaker of the House. The City of Annapolis has lost a true friend.
Sincerely,
Gavin Buckley, Mayor
