Annapolis City Council Meeting Will Take Place on
Tuesday, March 26 (Maryland Day is Monday)
Annapolis, MD (March 20, 2019) – The Annapolis City Council will host its scheduled Special Meeting of the Council on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis.
Monday, March 25 is Maryland Day, a City holiday. City offices in Annapolis will be closed on Monday, March 25.
The following City services will operate on a regular schedule on Monday:
- Transportation, including bus service
- Recreation & Parks, including the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center
- Trash and recycling pickup
Maryland Day is observed on March 25 to mark the landing of 150 European settlers who arrived on two ships, “The Ark” and “The Dove.” They disembarked in 1634 at St. Clement’s Island in the Potomac River (in what is today St. Mary’s County).
Marylanders began officially observing Maryland Day in 1903. In 1916, the day was designated a legal holiday.
