Mayor Gavin Buckley Statement in Support of and
Solidarity with the People of Christchurch, New Zealand
Annapolis (March 15, 2019) – To the people of Christchurch, New Zealand: the residents of the City of Annapolis stand in solidarity with you in the face of the mass shootings at your mosques. We understand, first hand, the devastating impacts mass shootings have on the families of victims, survivors and the community as a whole.
It is important to recognize that hate never solves a problem. Gun violence never solves a problem. I believe, if we work together (as Connecticut has recently done), we can find solutions to prevent future mass shootings.
Our hearts are broken for you. We as a community are sending love around the world to you.
